I use a K&N panel filter in my BMW 530d - 10 times better than the standard foam/paper BMW item, and cheaper too

Surely you mean 10 times less filtration?
New vs new, paper gives better power too.
So cheaper, best flowing, and best filtration.
No wonder people ditch the stock item...

"10 times better" = slang term/generalisation for "much better"

Better for what though, premature engine wear?
I don't see that as a plus point though.
