'Thumbs Up' Cop Loses His Licence
A policeman who made 'thumbs up' gestures to speed cameras while racing to emergencies has been banned from driving.
David Mayes, 34, took his hands off the wheel to make the signals on the way to two 999 shouts.

Surprised the world didn't stop spinning when he did that....
Driving without due care and attention.
Due care - didn't crash despite giving a thumbs up and doing 30mph over posted limit.
Attention - Even at 30mph over the posted limit he knew where the camera was.
Don't see the big deal myself, no harm in a little cockiness.

GOOD!
What if someone had stepped out into the road as he was doing well over the speed limit, with his hands off the wheel and looking at the camera rather than the road.
He is supposed to set an example for the public, not be a cocky twat who would have jumped all over a normal member of the public caught doing the same.

If it had been Joe public that had done it and he had caught them he'd have thrown the book at them most likely. I think he should have had his mind on his driving and the job he was on. I hope they stick him in an office permanently.

If you have witnessed pig brutality from my perspective then you would understand why I tend to give them a bit of stick when it comes to threads like this.
Now fuck off

I never curse at people unless they say something that that gets my goat, and don't worry about me I've had the same girl at my side for 20 years so a lay aint an issue, not that its any of your fucking business anyway.
Bottom line don't expect not to get grief when you slag people or insult their intellegence

The people who I have piccies of doing a three point turn after driving the WRONG WAY UP A DUAL CARRIAGEWAY ie against traffic flow didn't even get spoken to, oh sorry they worked for the police as safety camera men, but are NOT police officers just civilians.
This copper should have got done, he is taking the piss when he knows, or rather thinks he can get away with it, mind you as his superior was banned for speeding he was only going by example set!!
tabetha

ERRR no hands on the wheel like he had is automatic driving without due care..
And if its no big deal why did his own force prosecute him They thought it was a big deal and were correct in banning him

all i can say is hard luck pc plod
yesterday we got stopped for not wearing a seatbelt. fair enough as its the law but 3 times the copper got a call over the radio to attend an urgent incident right around the corner from where theyed stopped us but 3 times she said they were to busy. she took ages to write out the ticket then made a cunt of it and started again.nearly 20 minutes all in.
meanwhile around the corner a teenage girl from the local highschool was getting her head jumped upon by some local neds. made a right mess of her. good to know the police have their priorities right
