Just been emailed this. I don't know if it's accurate or not but beware.....

As from 15th Feb 2008 the speed cameras between junctions 10 (Wisley/A3) and 15 (Heathrow) WILL be active. At present they are set intermittently to activate with any vehicle travelling over 93 MPH. As from the 15th they will be permanently set to activate at 80 MPH.

I used to go through @ 85 and never get caught... Haven't been down that way in a few years tho...

The reason you never got caught is because the cameras were set to activate at 93 mph and you were doing 85. Doesnt take agenius to work out why you werent caught

I always slow down through them just to be on the safe side. For the sake of getting to my destination 5 minutes earlier and risking 3 points I simply don't take the risk

The pope could tell me they are set off at a certain speed, I'd still stick to the limit.
If there's cameras about it's stupid not too.

not all gantrys have camera behind them, so if you go round every morning and evening you soon know which oens you can boot it through

just by where i live. They never used to be switched on, although you'd sometimes see them going off in the opposite direction (towards heathrow way).

Similar topic, but east side of the M25.

Does anybody know if the average speed cameras travelling westbound from the A127 to the M11 work? There are 4 or 5 of them, but there are no speed camera signs (which I think is the law to have).

Any ideas????

Their not speed cameras mate, their ANPR - they check for tax, stolen, unregistered etc.... of cars.

But if thats not the case then i wont slow down any more no one else normally does

We got circulated an internal email about 2 weeks ago that said it was going to kick into force today.

No notice, no warnings but they will be being switched on, and for the vario signs as well.

Either the date has changed or its circulating just to slow people down.

Im sure we'll hear a big public outcry if and when they are on as the postman will become busy lol

Rich, last time I went down the M25 (Past Heathrow) was about 4 years ago. This post was done a few days ago telling of them being set to 93mph. So how the fuck was I meant to know 4 years ago????

Why are there so many of them then and why are they painted yellow like the average speed cameras?

ive gone through them last year every day for a few weeks at over a ton and never had anything done to me

was told they only turn on when the speed limit signs are up

fucking anoys me all these speed cameras,,,, i aint been done yet but on motorways like the M40 ect i cant see the point in a 70mph limit

was in oxford yesterday and comming back if i was doing 70 i recon i would have never got back till this morning
