Removal of Black sound deadening stuff !!

All that black crap stuck to the floor and everywhere!!
Whats the best way to get it all off.
Tried getting it of with a scraper and petrol but took hours to do a small part.
Anyone got a good solution.

Heat it gently and at the same time get a scraper under it, if you move the heat and follow it with the scraper it comes off very easily.
I have tried loads of different ways and that by far is the simplest cleanest way of doing it
