Default Halfords Tool Guarantee question

In 1993 I bought a Halfords 3/8 and 1/4 drive socket set that came in a blow-moulded case. I don't think the Professional range existed then, and it doesn't say Professional on it.

Anyway, the set has served me well for donkeys years, but today I managed to snap the little 1/2 to 3/8 adapter.

Will they sell things like that individually?

Does the Lifetime guarantee apply to items before a certain date?
Does anyone know when it was introduced?
Does their Professional stuff say this anywhere on it?

And will their guarantee mean I get a whole new set?

No it isn't, the lifetime guarantee was out before the professional tools were introduced.

I have a socket set from back then and I have had a few parts changed, broken and snapped sockets. They don't cover wear and tear on the ratchets.

They tried to fob me off saying that the lifetime guarantee only lasted 10 years and I asked where it said that in the shop? got another free part.

You got lucky on the basis of good customer relations rather than it being policy IMHO

I don't mind paying for a replacement part but, if it is covered by a guarantee, why should I? I don't think that's being tight, just sensible!
