Whats Aberdeen like?
Whats the city of Aberdeen like? Anygood? In particular I guess the area around the airport.
Also, as theres loads of oil workers up that way, anyone know what the score with accomodation is? B&Bs cheap? (would be looking at 4 days up there at a time really - 4 on 4 off shift).
Just considering some options!
Cheers

Too many posts.. I need a life!!
Rush hour airport area is a nightmare, but lots of work and good money to be made. Next to 0 unemployment in Aberdeen so good place come to as if it doesnt work out there is another job around the corner.
Best searching for a B&B as it will work out cheaper than hotel, plenty around but are busy. Renting is possibly a good option considering rates paid for B&B / hotel if its long term.

If it was to be that way, it'd be longterm (at least a year), so I guess a rent/houseshare would be the way forward.
Sounds good being a uni city though Job wouldnt be a problem, as if the job went I'd go too Ideally would be located around the airport, as that'd be where work is.
Hmm, a few things to consider, its fooking miles away for a start whats the cost of renting/living up there? quiet cheap? Probably try and get a room in a student house to be honest.

I was up in the summer with a few mates. We arrived early afternoon and started looking for a room for the night, what a royal pain in the arse!!!
We hadn't thought about the rig workers shift changes so we really struggled to get a room in the centre. We ended up in Dyce (near the airport) in a nice hotel but still 10mins from the centre. Taxi was cheap between the 4 of us though so not a problem.
Nightlife is good, we went to some ghost/ghoul styled church place which was pretty good then went to the priory? club, which was a right laugh, really good night out.
Nice city too if your into that

Aberdeen is a great place mate, stayed and worked there for 8 years and would go back there in a flash, wife not keen to move though !!!!
Its changed a lot from when i was there ( about 3 or so years ago ) but overall a great place to go, most folk are really friendly but your almost guranteed to get into a scrap waiting in the fucking massive taxi rank at the back wynd !!!! Some good pubs and clubs though, Ma Camerons used to be my favorite haunt until it got taken over by some other brewery and it completely changed, used to be full of regulars as its one of the oldest pubs in Aberdeen, then it all changed and was full of gobby student dick heads !!!

for lapdancers id choose bugsy browns, £3 to get in & £5 a dance plus you could probably pull half the birds in there
for drugs & nutters id say drum & the belmont bar
my personal favourite is tonik as theres loads of stunners plus no chavs & tinks
priory is good aswell if you like loads of people & after a chick
archibald simpsons for cheep drink but no music so its boring i think,
& the gala casino is sometimes a good laugh, not soul casino tho as its empty every time ive been

Well, spoken to the company, they are very interested. It's better money up there, with training and theyre offering a few grand relocation.....but, tbh, I don't want to goto Aberdeen if I can help it, just miles away! (and Katie would rip my balls off ).
My current employer did come back with an offer on the phone that seemed like staying for, until it turned up in writing this morning twats....send them a sh*tty email, so who knows.
At the moment, could go either way, lot more money up there, but hassle. They have offered to fly me up for nowt for a look around and interview, so will probably take them up on that offer!
Keep you posted.
PS. Why is property so expensive - Rent a mint flat down here for £675/mo, up there its all mid terrace stuff. Argh lol, I'd just want a 2bed semi in a nice area with a driveway for two cars, for reasonable money, too much to ask?! lol.
