Default vectra 2.0 turbo diesel fault, anyone help?

need some advise please

i have a 96 turbo diesel vectra runaround.
when i got it a few weeks ago the guy i got it off had the codes read as the engine light came on (then would go out).
it came up with the air flow meter fault (since fitted a new bosch one and coolant sensor and ecu temp sensor).
light comes on when first started and don`t go of till i rev it (goes out at about 2500 revs).then when i get to a junction it returns.happens for bout a mile or so.
but i have noticed it is unwilling to rev,not a responsive as it was.

any idea`s

cheers
dave

As mentioned above, check all the small vacuum hoses for cracks or splits, i had one recently that would lose power intermittently and seem like there was no turbo at all, eng management light would come on and had a fault code for the maf sensor, tried another one on and was exaclty the same, eventually found two split hoses, one near the turbo actuator and one at one of the boost control valves on the pass side inner wing !!

My mate has a vetcra which when you pull away it basically does nothing then all of a sudden it goes like a rocket. Its not the turbo coming on boost its when you rev, its like it doesnt want to if that makes sense.

mine does it sometimes, I took it in to the garage and they said it needed glow plugs-didn't cure it. All I do is pop the bonnet and hit the fuses beside the battery and its a good'un!
it only happens once in 1000miles or so though

UPDATE

just checked the oil,it was over the top of the marker

drained just over 1 1/2 litres from it to ring it to the top of the dipstick marker.so some dick had put 7litres in it instead of 5.5 litres

started it up and all was well, until i pulled of then the engine light came on again
itwent out after i had rev`ed it to just over 2500rpm.it was fine till i came to a junction a couple of hundred yards away, same thing happened.it did it 3 times then was fine.it does pull better than before though.

got back and had all the small vacuum hoses off, covered the ends with my thumb and blew into them, they were all fine

any ideas? or do i have to have the codes read? can a normal garages scanner read all the codes or does ithave to be the tech2 from vauxhall?

cheers

Let me know when you find out whats wrong as the one i did still has a similar fault !! Management light comes on at idle and has a slight lack of power until you get up the revs a bit then it goes out and full power unitl it idles again for a minute or so !!!!

mine had same fault it's the spill pipes on the injectors they crack and leak
they are a bit of a pain to get off as they break up when pulled leaving old rubber round the fitting.you will need to fill them back up with a seringe till brimed. you will have to suck fuel up the pipe from the pump
to the spill offs clamp off top up with fuel then push back on and release
the clamp. more fiddly than owt but should cure your problem i have had the same fault codes up fitted afm just as you did then a mate told me to do this and it sorted it. it also improved it's cold starting as well, hope thishelps you out it did me

all the above are just standard on a vectra, not faults, they make them this shit at vauxhall from new.

anyone who buys a vectra deserves all the fault lights they get for buying the shitbox in the 1st place!!

Oi cheeky we have had loads the best being the 3.2 gsi's and
they can do your head in this management light malarky.
but punters love them and thats what matters
crank sensor, cam sensor, air flow meter, air leaks
air bag warning lights.......
you get used to them eventually
the best ones don't have management light problems
if its been removed and thats a common trick

badnews

the spill pipes are a common problem (so i have read?) for cold starting issues.car has to bleed itself when cold everytime.

UPDATE
i work on the motorway and our depot if based in the services..parked it at work and return to car.it was stone cold.engine light went off straight away.
pulled onto motorway.got upto 70 mph, after about 2-3 miles light comes on again and car wont rev or accelerate.i do a quick turn of the ignition and re-start car, light off, normal driving is resumed.

car seems fine when driven for a few miles before getting on the motorway and pulls well.but when its cold it throws the light up everytime.
