Hopefully he'll be ok.

We took in a stray a few years back who'd been run over and turned up on the doorstep with a completely smashed up leg. He was a bit of a veteran though and had been hit by at least 3 or 4 cars. Survived another 5 years then died of the kidney problems they get.

Cats are bloody stupid though. At least dogs are hanging around near the road for a while before they run out usually so you do see them, cats just dart out.

It's never quite so bad if the person who runs them over just takes the time to stop and tell you though. I'd be awful for it and I'd be up the vet with somebody elses bloody cat but not everyones such a soft touch I realise

And people keep the shit off this thread, it's downright dis-respectful, and probably upsetting to the owner.

well as it happend last night, no vets wer open...

so had to take him to a private vet, 75quid just to look at him and the bill this morning was 191pound just to keep him over night! (for the best though as the first 24 hours is the most critical)

so just took him to the rspca who we are already coverd which etc...

i hit a cat in my old XR2, , i was truly gutted, stopped car, wacked the kitty on the back seat, and drove to a parade of shops to use their phone to contact the owner, the little thing died and i wa a bit sad, regardless of whether you like pets or not, surely its just a humane thing to do to another living creature,

saying that i have two cats and fookin hate the bastards but thats another story anybody want two cats

Best of luck mate.

I hit a cat a few months ago, it was a black one and late at night, I didn't see it until it was right in front of me. I felt the car hit it and I slammed on. I felt awful, and I was shaking etc. It's the first time I've ever hit anything and I love cats.

I got out and looked everywhere for the cat, desperate to find it to take it to a vet, I vene walked round the back of a hedge into a field to see if it had gone through there but I just couldn't find it anyway. I was distraught for days to be honest

had his xray earlier...and some bad news! just cracked up once i heard!

his pelvis has come away from his spine, and hes broke his leg...

but hes still ok and stable!

although they can fuse his pelvis "back on" and fix his leg, it depends on what nerves wer damaged as he may not have feeling to his legs or bladder

have to wait till the inflimation goes down before they can see whats what, and before they can do surgery...

time will tell!

realy hope my lil tiger pulls through, although hes only a year old hes a bludi tough little cat!!

Sorry to hear this, pets are often more valued than family members, can show loyalty like a lot of family members can't or don't.
Not sure how much the driver stopping would achieve to be honest, but just my opinion.

Awwww I'm sorry to hear this bonusboy. I found our younger cat Indiana Jones cowering in my dad's room and growling & wailing like a banshee if I went near her. We took her to the vet the next day and he said she'd been hit on the rear end by a car (glancing blow sort of thing) because she had swelling, bruising, broken claws (claws out, on the road, trying to get away & they broke) and a dislocated tail.

They really really wanted to amputate her tail which we didnt want (she was a persian cat & would have looked bloody odd without it!) so we delayed but the vets insisted she wasnt getting better when suddenly my mum noticed the tip of Indy's tail twitch when we tickled her. Gradually it recovered so dont give up hope on Zeb recovering

We have 2 cats that are coming up to a year old now and are indoor cats due to us living on a main road.

Its true that they become part of the family and we would be heartbroken if anything like this happened to either of them.

Fingers crossed that he pulls through mate

Hi Bonus_boy

You dont know me, my name is Cassie, Im not on the site but just caught sight of something cat related.

Sorry to hear about your little cat, really hope he gets well, there is no excuse for people not stopping. Even if the cat is not wearing a collar or tag, all that has to be done is to take the cat to a vet (all vets have a 24hr service, even if it is not the nearest surgery) and if the person that takes the cat to the vet is not the owner, they dont have to pay for it, the vets ring the rspca to cover costs. Also other animals wildlife etc are covered by vets free of charge day or night. (I will stop there before I start ranting about animal acts and law etc - I worked at RSPCA for years)

The other-day I saw a cat that had been knocked over there was a long line of traffic, no-one bothered to get out of their car, I jumped out of car before it even stopped, ran to edge of road, and one driver was not even going to stop for me to go to the cat! Took my coat off as I ran, scooped cat up out of road, wrapped it in coat, checked breathing heart beat etc, while hubby rang for a vet, unfortuanately the cat did not make it, but I knocked on doors nr by, no answer, so I left a message at the local vets to see if an owner came forward, luckily they did and I could follow up the details, they were so grateful they sent me flowers, yet it was not much for me to stop for the cat.

Anyway a picture of Mayhem, our Main Coon currently lying in front of the keyboard so hes thiniking of your cat (not yet fully grown)!

That's 100% true and I felt this on many occasions, I love my cat Clio more than anything else in the world. She is on my keyboard as I type and it's taking me ages to type something that makes any sense.

Somebody said they don't see what good the driver stopping would do... personally for me, and I had a cat from being 11 to 21), it would show they actually gave a shit and for me personally, that's important.

Sorry to hear this don't know what i would do if it was one of mine Although i live in a quiet area its my worse fear and always at the back of my mind if there not about when i get in etc I lost my cat who was only 1 when i was a child to the road, so I think it will always be there at the back of my mind. It doesn't stop me letting my cats out you can't keep them cooped up inside, they would hate me if i did lol But I always make sure they are in and the cat flap is locked when i go to bed so i know where they are.

Really hope he pulls through!

How is he doing today?

Get well soon ZEB

Our cat 'Tabetha' was run over last summer, the driver didn't stop but the next vehicle that came along did stop & they knocked on my door, she was still moving in the road but then died within a few minutes. Was a very sad day she was only 10 months old, my eldest daughter still thinks about Tabby sometimes & it really upsets her even though it was last summer.
This was Tabby

2 new kittens Tiger & Tinkerbell

We have another cat Charlie that we've had for 15yrs ! but can't find any photo's.

LOOK FOWARD TO HEARING GOOD NEWS ABOUT ZEB

Simon.

well had some realy good news the past few days...

hes started eating more and has been going to the toilet him self so hes got control over his bladder!! which was the main problem thinking that hes lost his feelings to it and they said there wasnt much point in him going under the knife if he hadnt as its not right having to give him 24/7 care...

but yer he seems to be getting better by the day!

time is going to be the biggest healer i think...

more xrays 2moro and they may be operating but still i dont think hes in a critical way anymore which is great news!!!!!!!!

such a strong cat!!!!
