Doug,
I think you will find that you need to substitute the word "work" for "last" .

This engine did 20 minutes on full boost at near max rpm on the dyno and the EGT's
were VERY safe even with a deliberately high charge temperature......
It lasted.

As far as the compression ratio goes, I dont know what it is and know one will tell me.

Dear All

Thanks for all the kind comments regarding Nicks engine, all involved are well chuffed that the calculated aspects of the package worked as, and better than expected!

Contrary to popular belief I do not dislike Cossies at all I just have cut my teeth with the Jap product. I even owned an Escort Cossie for a while! Broke a gearbox and it had to go!!!

I am currently trying to persuade Spenner to do a BIG spec very high HP, reliable YB, whether he listens to what I want to do explicitly remains to be seen!

I can't disclose exact spec of this engine or indeed any idea as to the final compression ratio, however I can say is that it is "altered" from standard!

Also I can confirm that the "way" we build engines has proven to be totally reliable irrespective of manufacturer so long as Top Gear don't borrow the car!

Cheers all

Simon

Why cant we all jst be told wot the comp ratio is. Wots the big deal with not telling us. Cant excatly guess all the top secret stuff in the engine just by knowing the comp ratio.

Rich, cause comp ratio is important.

AND

Like "secret" spec cams, itsa a fucking quality way of throwing people totaly off what your doing, and if your really lucky they copy what they "think" your doing and end up building a crock of shit

Why the hell should Simon or anyone else tell you how to build a good engine, he wants to earn a living you know . It amazes me how the general public thinks they are entitled to everyone's R&D . If you want to know what works best, YOU spend the required amount on the research to find out this info . If you can't aford to do this, then I suggest you spend your money with an engine tuner that has .

I'm sure i remember reading a post on here saying that C/R is a byproduct of the engine spec i.e. you spec the engine components to achieve your desired power level / delivery, the C/R is then calculated afterwards. So if you know an engine is say 7.2:1, there are a few ways to achieve this CR, but that doesn't mean the engine will work with the cylinder bore / crankshaft stroke / head work you used to achieve it. (or have i got something wrong?)
