So if i register it in this country my car will be an 'import'..won't that be more expensive to insure? And do i have to register it in this country?

PassionFord Post Whore!!
It HAS to be registered in this country if it's going to be here for more than 6 months.
But, when you say Irish reg, is that North or South?
If it's North it's just a re-reg at DVLA
If it's South it's an import.
.

Cheers, so what do i have to do to get a re-reg then? Will they send me a new registration or could i keep the old one? Does it cost anything?

PassionFord Post Whore!!
The seller should have filled in section 11 of V5..(Ni) and sent it to DVLNi.
And given you sections 1 to 8 which you send to DVLA with New reg application, V55/5 (No reg fee payable.) U.K MoT ( if required) Insurance docs etc.
DVLA will contact DVLNi and then issue a V5,

We have to import cars to NI from the mainland. Its just a simple form to fill in.
Its more down to the different registration bodies. Here we have the DVLNI, and you guys have the DVLA
