R&D gearbox??
I have decided that i want to try this 6 speed dogbox as i have heard both good things and bad.
Was first buying an ffd, but as i have just bought a new house, that have been canceld.
Have a fixit now, but cant really get spare parts, so can sell this and get an r&d with little cash between, but now the question is, WHERE is there an good one?
All used, but really want an tested one, preferely rebuilt?
Anyone in here?

buy a new one you may get a good cash deal.and it won't be much dearer than second hand.
second hand ones is what gives them a bad name usually not much life left in them

Plenty people knock these boxes and yes,the aftermarket service is not good but just look at Andrew G.Theres not many cars to touch his and he has run one for a couple of years with no bother,and he does'nt exactly spare the horses.

there is only two guys i say i struggle with and thats steve scott and stewart white. and guess what box they run?

Well i know that the ffd is stronger, but i can almost buy 3 R&D boxés for the same price as one ffd, so i´m willing to take the chance yes.

Prices ive been quoted is arr 8k + coolers pumps and new clutch cause of splines, so 4k for an r&d is cheap

if you give Steve Scott a call, one of his good customers (Scott - with the orange escort cossie) is about to sell his R&D gearbox.
Steve may even have the gearbox out of the car, or if not will be able to contact Scott for you.
