Default Anyone live in or near Reading?

Got an interview there tomorrow, if they say what I want to hear etc, I may be relocating.

Wondering on property prices etc, would prolly have to rent somewhere 1st.

Any info GREATLY appreciated

depending on what you earn of course; a friend of mine got a job in reading but lived in swindon; (45-55 mins away) as the prices of houses cheaper and could get a better house for his ŁŁŁ, depends on if you fancy a commute or not

the further west you go from reading the cheaper it is (big town wise)

Reading is OK, but I wouldn't want to live near the town center.

Try looking on rightmove.co.uk , steer clear of south Reading / whitley.

I've live in Reading, Calcot

I did look @ Swindon, but if ur relocating, you dont want it to be 40 miles from ur place of work really..

Id be back to the same prob I had at the NEC and that was 33 miles

I don't really like Reading that much, my sis lives there and its not bad, just over-populated and a bit of a shit hole in my opinion! There are nicer areas like any town, and house prices vary massively depending on where in Reading you want to go! What's the company you got an interview with?

reading is expensive to buy/rent

and swindon is far cheaper, but i can take upto an hour to get to reading on the m4 if there is traffic, and is some cunt bins it, you'll be sat there all day

if you do move to swindon, avoid places that begin with a P (penhill radders )

and dont move to grange park, cos i live there

newbury is closer to reading, but i dont know what house prices are like, speak to alexf for that one

personally tho, i wouldnt live in reading. not that keen on swindon really but got no choice on that one

Newbury is quite pricey as well; but like all, it depends on where you live in the town for how much you pay for it

And i agree with above that if some dick stacks his motor on the M4 you'll be sat there for hours.

i live in Swindon; in stratton right by the A419 which is great if you want to get to the M4 a bit quick or need to commute

snap, i live in calcot to,

tbh, stay clear of early, whitely, southcote, oxford road and junctin areas, if you want to keep possesion of your car and wallet,

houses are very over prised, and renting is a piss take, councle tax is dear lol.

and we have alot of heavy traffic considering the size of our town.

besides that, not a bad place lol

i live in a village just outside reading - property prices are ridiculously high and there are some really grotty areas of Reading.

if you tell us where you are looking at working, it would help us give you some pointers as it's a pretty big place and very varied

Well had my interview and things went well!

Still not moving 100%, but the job is based on the Arlington business park in Theale.

The boss there lives in Swindon, and says it takes him 35 mins to get in, so DEFFO an option!

Thanks for all the info, radders soz for not calling, I only remembered when was half way home!

Doh!

i used to lodge in theale 12 years ago when i forst started working in basingstoke.

the further west you go, the cheaper it'll be, and less congested. by going west of J12 of the M4 you will miss the nightmare that is J11.
