stripped out my car....(1.3 mk4 3dr factory weight?)
and weighed the bits...
carpets
speakers
plastics
sound proofing (4kg!!)
parcel shelf
mats
mudflaps
spare wheel
and ive saved 38.5kg!!
ive still got to weigh the rear seat belts and all the fixings
and the rear bench and 60/40 split!
does anyone know what a 1.3 bonus 90 mk4 escort would weigh in standard form?

put all the stuff back in and take it down the scrappy to get it weighed in! then you'll have done yourself a favour, filled yer pockets.... and got the answer too!!!

is that quite alot of weight to shred off a car buy stripping it?
its 38.5kg at the moment but when ive weighed the rear bench and all the brackets and rear seat belts i reckon i will have saved about 43/44kg...
enough to make a noticable difference?
is there anyway i can find out how much they weigh standard?
or can anyone find out for me please...

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
As said should be in tha haynes manual, I'll try and find mine tomorrow for ya, another idea, remove the rear wiper and motor as its not needed and if it aint there it cant fail an mot on it, gotta be a couple of kilos right there

but "md cos" said his xr3i with him and slighty stripped was 1080kg..
hmm spose it has got the 1.6 insted of the 1.3, the bodykit and all electric window motors etc....
915kg tho...be chuffed if it is though...means im in the 8s!!

it had a zvh (heavier slightly), a fibreglass RST kit Bonded and Blended in, so there would have been a few kilos there, not quite 100 odd though
had full electrics too, every little helps. i think the base models used thinner sound deadening and thinner carpets too
