what power you running and whats your specs
just being nosey
also whats the theoretical breaking point of steel rods and what would be the first thing to go if these didnt

My RST made 270bhp on standard rods/pistons and about 28psi of boost. I have run as far as 30psi, but my engine was very low comp.
I now run around 25psi with my steel rods, not sure how much power yet, but I would think around 300bhp.
As for breaking point of Steel Rods, I would say that you are more likely to have an engine failure due to a poor machining tolerance or a badly assembled engine LONG LONG LONG before you break a Steel Rod. IMO the Pistons will always be a weak point, whatever they are. Even if they are fancy forged jobbies, doesn't mean that our good friend 'Uncle Det' wont blow a big hole in them if he decides to pop his head up. The crank will also become a weakness, but only if you plan to run silly revs (8k plus?)

Dunno if im right or wrong but surly an engine that has got steel rods in would have been machined properly so would have no poor machining tolerence or been put together badly!!!

Machining can be bad regardless of the rods. There are lots of bits to be machined in an engine and it is far more likely that there will be an error there before a rod breaks.
Anyone can attempt to build an engine either with or without steel rods, so there could easily be a mistake made.
Det can be caused by many things. Fuel Pump failure, clogged Fuel Filter, fuel starvation caused by cornering too hard, badly set up, too much boost, compression too high etc etc etc.

Yeah ok so i realise machining can be bad regardless of rods etc but surely if you were building or paying for building of an engine to this speck you would make sure there aint no bad bits at all cos as you say will cause engine failure !!!!!
