so what was actually done as i dont know what the chassis rail looked like before? a new bit of metal bulging outwards?
the chassis leg was just flat mate, i think it started to taper in at the back end of the recess i cut slightly but if so wasnt much. either way, doesnt matter as im sure the escort chassis leg is different.

just wanted to illustrate the rough sort of ammount that needed taking away, ie, not alot!

some people may decide a little word with a sldge hammer acceptable to create the clearance needed but chopping and welding is the best bet imo.

dunno about the escort conversions, but i had to move the engine and box forward by about 30mm in the fiesta so that the CV would clear the ends of the chassis legs where the lower arm fixes to the body. this may or may not been needed in the escorts. i assume not as nobody mentioned it, but if it does then itll throw up loads of issues with clearance at the front end. im sure someone can confirm either way!

im looking for cv joints that have a 26spline gearbox end and 22spline internal to se if theres a way to get a cheep set of shafts made up for you aswell paul

xr-stu, is the gearbox on the MTX75 is wider or narrower as it seems the size of compressed shafts differs on MTX box escorts to the BC box escorts

oh and the escort gti uses a MTX75 box,,, is that the same starter location as the rs2000 or is that a starter/gear linkage

sory if you think im hi-jacking but it seems that a few people may beable to help each other out to get the same result

youre not hi-jacking at all mate!!

i dunno about the dimensions, its generally just bigger in every dirrection, but i guess the shafts being different lengths means the diff housing/diff is wider?

it is a fucking big lump compared to the BC box!

as for the escort GTI, i dunno, i assume its the same as the rs2k one, wouldnt have thought theyd change it if they didnt have to...
