so what was actually done as i dont know what the chassis rail looked like before? a new bit of metal bulging outwards?
the chassis leg was just flat mate, i think it started to taper in at the back end of the recess i cut slightly but if so wasnt much. either way, doesnt matter as im sure the escort chassis leg is different.

just wanted to illustrate the rough sort of ammount that needed taking away, ie, not alot!

some people may decide a little word with a sldge hammer acceptable to create the clearance needed but chopping and welding is the best bet imo.

dunno about the escort conversions, but i had to move the engine and box forward by about 30mm in the fiesta so that the CV would clear the ends of the chassis legs where the lower arm fixes to the body. this may or may not been needed in the escorts. i assume not as nobody mentioned it, but if it does then itll throw up loads of issues with clearance at the front end. im sure someone can confirm either way!
