No, it should prime then stop, sounds like the relay has #### its self or someone has bypassed it

its not a problem mate it will of been bypassed, another bas escort fuse box!! just find the switch wire from the ecu at fuse box and put a new relay on it if you want it right. 10 minute job mate. thin brown wire i think and fuel pump wire is thick black red?

NEEDFORSPEED, Yes ive got a power probe the reason ive asked the question in the first place was ive taken the whole engine loom harness out including ecu but pump still runs constantly i was wondering if the pump relay may be picking an earth up from sumwere else as there is an earth wire that goes to the main harness that isnt earthed coz its not plugged in. Ive also tried a continuety test from the main engine harness plug back to the fusebox but cant seem to find any of the wires that are meant to go to pump relay from harness

na ive never had one thats picked up an earth 90% sure it will of been jimmyed.try and find the fuel pump relay and see if the switch wire is there it may just be that the fuse box had lost live to relay rather than the trigger small brown relay i think in the middle?
