FAO ELECTRICIANS HOUSEHOLD
...I HAD A DOUBLE PLUG SOCKET PUT IN A WHILE AGO THEY (caps) and they took it off another socket in another room that is not used...well the double socket has now stopped working so i replaced the unit to no avail..i then checked the wall socket it comes off and that doesnt work either now..i checked to make sure all wires are connected..yes..no fuses blown in the main unit either...i noted the original wires to the single unit go up i guess into the loft....is there another fuse anywhere?????..and why has it stopped working?..overloaded?...no fuse gone as far as i can see?
please help its a much needed double socket!

Seriously if you have to ask about mains wiring you shouldn't be trying to do the repair.
If you have checked all the fuses (there should not be any in the loft ..btw) and thats not sorted it you need a sparky

Steve i have a feeling a 2kw heater did it...just too much?..Yes 2 wires in the old socket...it seemed to not work then work then not at all...i switched the new box for another new because one of the on/off switches was dodgy.
..i would rather risk my life than pay
..dare me to try a repair pissed?

2kw is only about 8 amps. as the original socket was a spur and they have added another spur from it there may be another fuse fitted somewhere. in the loft maby? your best bet will be to follow the cable, can't be that hard unless its all borded.
May also just be a loose connection somewhere and the moderate current your heater draws has burnt it out.
