new transit help reqd.
we've got a new 57 plate lwb tdci in our workshop, the thing ran out of diesel, we put about 3 gallon in, now it wont start. it turns over but wont fire,.
we got a mechanic from ford to come out from the dealership to try and start it, still no joy. he said there was a "secret" way to bleed them. but we couldn't watch him
.
anyway he flattened the battery trying to start it, I've got the battery on charge tonight, does anyone know how to bleed them? I'll need to do it in the morning

try starting it on brake cleaner and keep it running on that untill you can rev it with the pedal, just be carefull how much you spray in. its better than easystart as it doesn't seem to hydraulic them. just do it somewhere well ventilated as it kills your eyes and throat

remove the filter & fill it with fuel
your ment to use a vacume pump to remove al the air from the fuel system if the pump is ran dry for to long they can fuck up
if the filter is filled it will not take long to fire

i shouldn't actully run out of fuel.
there is a sensor in the tank that shuts the engine off before it runs out to save the pump.
all the details are in the handbook. sometimes the fuel gauges get a little stuck on the transits. i rolled 90quid in mine the other day got back in it and the fuel light was still on
it took about 5 starts before the gauge went up.
manybe the fuel senders got stuck down,
just a thought............

the third set of ford technicians managed to get it going at about 12:30 today
, as far as i could tell the difference was the third guy filled the fuel filter before trying to bleed it, that got it going. all the first two seemed to be doing was flattening the battery tuning it over trying to bleed it.
