filled the fuel filter before trying to bleed it, that got it going. all the first two seemed to be doing was flattening the battery tuning it over trying to bleed it.

i myself didn't have time to muck about with it, i was too busy fitting a wheelchair tail lift to it, as it was a brand new van my boss was kind of pissed off they sent it to us with no diesel, he was quite happy to leave it up to them to get it going.
I thought that modern diesels would start without any problems if they ran out. in saying that I've never really worked with them.
