fwd car of similar sort of size and weight managing to beat you off the line isnt a good sign, irrelevant of what torque it has!
Lol, fwd turbo with less power to weight beat a rwd na with more power to weight...
5.5 seconds to 60 for the M3 if peddled right.
In a straight line you can get all the power down with the lsd, how would the derv do this?
In the scenario from 100mph, the M3 would be at 110 by the time the derv hit boost I'd say - mine takes off in 5th very nicely, think evo's 5th is same if not lower geared.
More bmw threads on here than on E36coupe

All's I know is my tdci pulls like fuck till 120 but I'd assume the M3 would be quicker
If the st was chipped then it would be another story
As much as it breaks my heart id say the M3 would win but it would be close!
The fastest ive taken mine was 125mph, it felt surprisingly quiet and safe with plenty more pull left in it, that was in my old Saloon though.

Seriously though, My Seat Ibiza TDi will do 147 and 50mpg, but definitely not at the same time. The lowest trip mpg I've ever had was 39mpg and that was London to Ayr. 440miles at an average speed of 83mph. You can get instant mpg down to around 27mpg if you try really hard
Why does my old ST TDCi not do what i said it did then
Oh well........i know it did as i was driving it and watching the readout on the GPS and the OBC
I am sure some people just try to belittle for for there own amusment

My mistake......

That one does 45-48 mpg when cruising.
I know it's a rep-mobile, but even they don't cruise at 147 mph, do they?

PMSL @ you hunting through the world wide web looking for stats on a car the same as my old one.......
Get over it, if you dont beleive me then forget about it
You said yours did 50mpg at 147mph.
In link another owner says his does 45-48mpg when cruising.
I asked if cruising speed was 147mph.
As usually cruising speed is 70-80mph, and this speed will usually achieve better mpg than being flat out at 147mph.
Maybe these cars return their best mpg when absolutely flat out battling against wind resistence, I've not driven one

Does this place really need 2 Chips??? erm no!!
Quite clearly he meant that his car was capable of nearly 150mph whilst still managing to achieve 50mpg on normal running.
That IS impressive in my book!
i'm guessing you've had plenty of Chips semen inside you, and his ways have infected you

My mistake......
My old 144K mile calibra turbo will knock on 50mpg and do 160mph, so fail to see the big deal, hence why I thought you were claiming 50mpg at 147mph, as otherwise what you're claiming is underwhelming.
Can be laid to rest now it's been established it was a poorly worded and underwhelming statement

or did you mean on the motorway with the throttle held steady doing 60mph??
It would just about do 50mpg in 6th on A roads, big struggle, but considering it was knocking on 300bhp think that's good.
Mid 30's for most driving, superb on fuel it is
Tiff - what's been going on mate?
Always thought this was best site going, but looks to have gone downhill since I've come on and looked (am after a cossie soon) ?
I'm nothing to do with Chip either, but have learnt a lot from his posts on here and a couple Vaux forums
