PassionFord Post Whore!!
DVLA told me to stamp my new shell in two places - the normal one by the drivers door and another place of my choosing then, if it was stolen, I'd be able to tell them where else to look for the second number.

So what does it matter if it has had a different engine fitted.
Head no can be checked, Turbo no can be checked and so can the engine no both YBP no and the engine no.
Shell no can be checked and so can any part with a bar code sticker.
As long as these don't come back as stolen then what can they do??
Police car crime did say that no.s fell of fords computer after 9yrs though.
I use to work for a large body shop that use to reverse ring cars for a very well known insurance company. (or was it just for the chief engineer $$$$$$)
A car matched back to its correct i.d. is worth much more on the second hand market than a stolen recovered sold to a salvage company.
Its not just back streeters that ring motors.
We use to do a lot of Jags, Mercs and BMWs
