Default Personal details have been taken from HM Revenue & Custo

I got a letter yesterday warning me that I am 'one of a small group' of people who's personal information has been 'missing' from their system! Including my name, date of birth, address, NI number and bank details!

The letter went on to say they have contacted my bank to warn them and I should also check all my statements properly.

Then after saying all that they say that it is probably an error and they believe the information is still in the office?

Am I the only one? Anyone else had this?

Lol no from what I can gather some information has been taken but they must still have it all as well. They didn't ask for any info and they still obviously had my address as they wrote to me!

Agreed.

Drive to some obscure place in the middle of the night and withdraw all your money from a cashline machine, then claim it wasn't you.

yeah i got one and my mate has, the letter is IMO is badly written.

The letter is a load of crap, the top bit says "oh we lost all you and your families details," then says dont give out any information to anyone over the phone like theres any need when HM revenue has already given away your info anyways

Child benefit is available to everyone with kids regardless of income. It's more than a handful affected.

Did you notice how they put everyones NI number on the letter they sent out with their names and addresses too. Dumb fucks!!!

same here i never read papers, never watch tv news or listen to the radio but i knew about it as soo as it happened!

anyway good luck with it.

what i dont understand is how has the HM Revenue got peoples bank details? they shouldnt have any cause to have that info

and i didnt think they would be allowed to write to your bank on your behalf regarding your account.

Steady on. How does not knowing about a story in the news have anything to do with raising a child????

I'm keeping hold of it as evidence, just incase I forget a tax return or balls something up. Not that it will do me any favours
