UK AFTERMARKET LAUNCH FOR VICTOR REINZ GASKETS
Victor Reinz, a leader in automotive gasket technology, is returning to the UK aftermarket after an absence of many years with a comprehensive range of engine gaskets and sealing products for cars and commercial vehicles.
The products will be exclusively available in the UK and in Ireland through Mahle Filter Systems UK Ltd, the West Midlands distributor of automotive filters and engine components. Stock will be held at the company’s new 40,000 square feet warehouse in Salisbury, Wiltshire.
Based at Neu-Ulm in Germany, where it has the most advanced duroplastics production line in Europe, Victor Reinz supplies original equipment sealing, shielding and valve cover systems to many of the world’s major car manufacturers, including Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen, plus high performance brands such as Bugatti and Porsche.
In the aftermarket the company maintains a replacement parts inventory stretching to more than 8,000 items, including gasket kits, cylinder head bolt sets, valve stem sealing sets, gasket materials, sealing compounds and sealant remover for professional engine repair and maintenance. All are manufactured to OE quality.
Founded in 1920, Victor Reinz shares a strong motor racing synergy with the MAHLE Group. The legendary Mercedes-Benz Silver Arrow Grand Prix racers of the 1930’s used Reinz gaskets and the company is still active in Formula 1 and other racing categories today.
A significant technological breakthrough was achieved by the company in the 1980’s with a range of products able to shield sensitive electronics from heat and acoustic radiation emitted by exhaust manifolds or turbochargers in the narrow confines of modern engine bays.
In 1993, when the company became part of the American DANA Corporation, Victor Reinz again revolutionised engine sealing with the introduction of multi-layer steel technology (MLS) to replace traditional soft gasket materials.
The latest generation of MLS gaskets currently under prototype testing have special sensors to serve functions like control electronics for an intelligent cooling system. These products will help the latest generation of cars to meet the stringent exhaust emission standards of the future.
