Default Cosworth Head gasket

This is prob a common question but i would like to see what power level people have experienced - tuners experience would be appreciated.

What power levels and reliability

  1. Victor Reinz
  2. YB1261
  3. WRC 4 Layer
I know 1 & 2 are similar but is the YB1216 better than the Victor Reinz due to the metal rings around holes???

Many thanks

YB1261 with standard head bolts torqued down correctly on a properly cleaned block and head is perfect for 400bhp really is no need to toto the expense of wrc at this power level

IF block and head are perfectly flat then fit multi-layer wrc gasket. Standard head bolts on mine using one and all is ok

The engine is currently complete and in the car minus the head so i can guarantee the head is flat but not the block (only 3k since build but unsure if block face was machined then) - although i had no issues with a grp A at 440/450 so can you risk it or just fit the grp A again as i running a bigger turbo and cam.

Yes after speaking to Karl my engine runs the wire rings with a grp a gasket....good for 500bhp no problems on standard head bolts....the only thing u have to watch is the grp a gasket has a tendancy to rot on the back exhaust side corner...so check for weeping periodically....seems the method imo....as if using a multi layer gasket long studding is advisable to get the clamp.

Wire ringing can be done in situ without taking pistons/rods out etc.

With so little mileage after a build, if the head had been skimmed you'd easily see the marks from it, or be able to tell.
There's people running over 500bhp on a group a with arp stud/nut kit, one that comes to mind has in excess of 40,000 miles on it, living in germany about 20 miles from the ring, where he goes at least once a month, and doesn't take it easy.
