You won't get what you spent on it back anyhow. Look for some rich kid and bring him for a spin in it! friend of mine here got 12k Euro(about 8k stg) for his 400bhp saff recently. He even fitted new glass, doors, lights, lenses just before he sold it. reckon it was standing him close to 30k all in.

Best pull the pin now then, because the second that you paid for a GENUINE 650bhp engine, your own car would be up to Ł30k .

thats the thing with building them though i suppose all the hard work and all the cost although must feel rewarding as it was built by yourself

i cant see why it would take to much to achieve 600 hp anyway proper head like euans but big valve job, and a gt35 or similar, modded eec iv inlet maybe 4 - 5 k or am i way of. although i suppose gearbox and diff will be leaving the building

If you read Mike's last reply to you, you're way off

Headwork alone for 600BHP must be redicilous amounts of money

He owned it about 6 years. And drove it for about 2 of those!! At the mo my escort is getting a 380bhp conversion and after that all in it'll be standing me at least 40k euro!! (nearly Ł27k stg)

Would say you would be looking at around 20k for a 600 bhp build, depending if you went for uprated liners, crank...
I know the head on my new engine was built to flow 600 and would be close to 3k.

Was actualy talking to Alan the other day about fitting the same T4 as Euan has before it gets fully mapped but need to sort out a gearbox before then as could be looking at around 500bhp.

I dont know about 2wd Saphs but in the escos world you might aswell not bother if you think 30K will get you a usable 650Hp Car

10K for a cheap escos

you could blow 10K on transmition that probebly wouldnt even cope under heavey abuse

5K on Brakes

5K on Turbo, inlet manifold, exhaust manifold and ECU

then the engine

just found the link check this out for a cheap head. i cant see why standard crank and rods wouldnt be ok with 8k rev limiter, gt35 1500 quid, inlet manifold from mike Ł400 and map it on l8 Ł500. i reckon 5k would do it just. heres link anyway

r and b inlet 700 hp capability Ł380 i think martin at reyland does a 600 hp turbo for Ł1000 on ebay then Ł500 for external wastegate.

would a standard crank and rods cope with it at no higher than 8k revs ?

The first one is my spec head the second is the same as Euans i think both done by CNC , but as Glancy said the time you buy uprated cams, valves, springs.. it all adds up but as you say still a good price for the porting work.

Both standard rods and crank should be good for 600 bhp with a sensible rev limit if in good condition. Kev Sharp was running over 600 with a hit of gas without problems.

ive got bd14s bronze guides, uprated springs, i think all i need is porting. and my t4 is only 2.5 k old got receipt from universal turbos Ł1300 so that gotta be worth Ł700 to Ł800 id of thought. im just pondering on the maths to see if id be tempted to do it. btw engine is new block, pistons crank on first grind, new high pressure pump, injectors will do the job.

any knowledgable advice much appreciated

I was meaning if you go for the big valve head , would think you would need to go up from 14's to get the best from it.
Depending on how far you want to go it might be worth looking at getting your T4 modded like the one AVA have just developed on Euans car seems to make good power early and hold it to 8k.

for 650hp think you would need an exhaust manifold too, Also the inlet for Ł380 is a little more than that as you would need the 70mm throttle body Ł190 and there is also more to it as im sure mike will confirm all of this

I think to build a 650hp engine and have it reliable you will need nikasel liners aswell Ł1600+

head and cams that is ready to go for 650hp Ł2000

Inlet manifold and Injectors Sweedish style Ł1000

Turbo, wastegate, exhaust manifold Ł2500

Custom made Exhaust System to flow 650hp Ł1100

where do you stop

to be honest if you was to use your current engine with a bigger ported head and just strap a GT35 on it and have it mapped on L8 i dont think you will see 650HP and it will probebly Surge its tits off ohh and push a rod through the side of the block if you want a 650hp engine you have to have a 650hp engine built in the first place look at some of the most powerfull engines about! Yum, Ade, Martin reyland, AndrewG Focus, All hand built for the job not just boltd together

tell you somthing if you can do it i will be right behind you

not slating you mate but i think you need to look into it properly.you cant just slap a 650 bhp engine together and expect it a.to pull the power and b. be anywhere near reliable for more than a thousand miles

its big bucks for that sort of power and the chassis and "extras"to cope

What Ben said about all the things you forgot about . Also, I see you soon realised that 650bhp was going to cost shit-loads more than you anticipated, so you lowered your sites to 600 .

yeah just pondering mate on a realistic costing and changing what needs changing but not just for the sake of it.
