Default What crank for a turbo?

Hi dont know if anyone can help but what crank is better to use when building an RST engine?
and can you use the 1.8 cvh crank and if so what difference does this make??

just something someone has told me can be done, i'm not sure

the ERST crank is supposedly the best crank for the job, as it's fillet rolled as standard. you can use the 1800 bits if you like, but there may or may not be some issues with clearance in (rods hitting) the block.

I've got an 1800 cvh bottom end in my XR2Turbo, from what i can tell using the crank in a 1600 is not going to work as the 1800 block is about 4-5mm taller than the 1600, and the rods are also longer.
People will also tell you not to bother with the 1800cvh and go for a Zetec.
My engine was built by Ferriday engineering for Ben Birch who worked for Performance Ford and now Retro Ford. He never used it so i got it as new and to be honest i'd have another one built, the engine is awesome. At the moment it runs 21 psi on a T34 with .48 housing, FRST big vavle head Cosie management with SECS S8 ECU. It's probably around the 250-280bhp mark.
Oh and in a Mk2 XR2 it makes for a fucking fast car

ok cheers, thought i had heard of people usein the 1800 cvh crank in the 1600 to make near on 1700??

i did think there might be issues but unless you ask you never know!!

anyone else got any info on the subject??

ooorrrrr even better anyone know what pistons you need to run in the 1800 for turbo-ing??

standerd 1800 zetec pistons in the 1800 cvh

surely you would need to use low comp pistons if you were going to turbo it??

would you know what pistons and rods to use that wouldnt meen messin with the head as its had quite abit spent on it!
