Default Scam?

Can anyone help with this. Im trying to sell a set of wheels and been talking to this guy. I think he is trying to pull my pants down tbh. He said he was interested and wanted my details to send a cheque. Up till that point he had sounded genuine. Then he sent me this:

"Hello Mr Mark,
How are you doing today, hope fine. Well i just want to update you concerning the cheque payment, the cheque payment is about to prepared and is going to be on the way to your address as soon as they prepare it, and also i should let you know that the shipping cost of the wheel is also inludeded to the cost of the wheel am buying from you, which means that you are going to recieve a cheque of £5000,so when you recieve the cheque take it to the Bank for clearance and when the cheque clears into your account deduct your own money from it which is £1600 and the left funds after you must have deducted the cost of the wheel will be forwarded to my shipping agent so that they can make all the neccessary things before coming over to your location for the pick up of the wheel, so i hope you understand me? also how is the wheel, hope it is in a safe place? In your last mail you said Where are my located? How can you sort the shipping?,Am located in Fife uk but the wheels is going to france ,i have a friend who is a shipper,so he will be coming from france to make the pick up.So all you need is keep me inform anytime you recieve the cheque okay."

£5000??? Has anyone seen this before?
Cheers.

Thats an expensive courier!

SCAM. They send a cheque, it then shows on your balance but isnt actually cleared, you send the item, then they cancel the cheque before its officially cleared.

Either that, or its a money laundering ploy to get money out of their country.

Tell hime to send one for £4000 as you can ship them for only £2400 instead of the £3400 he got it for.

stolen cheque book
the bank cashes the cheque, you look and see money in your account
you withdraw the extra money and send it back to them
a few weeks later the owner of the cheque book tells the bank he wants his money back
the bank pays him his money back
you get shafted

tell him to send the cheque then bank it and sit on it for about 6 months

Send the cheque to a friends address. Stick it in your bank and don't reply to him again! If its genuine then he shouldn't of been so dum giving you the cash and if its fake the bank will take the cash back and nothing more.
