I know this was then changed on all new products. My point is why did it take someone to point this out before it was changed? This should never have happened in the first place.
For this simple reason i would never use them.

What have you used in the past, always been an AP boy?
Yes only used AP's on the Saph.
I know Nick used to have standard 2wd calipers with larger discs and bells. Nick really rates this set up if you are on a budget.

The lads are the main problem. I have a mate who got a set of 300mm 4-pots for his RS2k and was told by the lads that he had to change his 17" Ford 7-spoke softedge wheels as the Hi-Spec kit would not fit. No ifs, no buts, like it or lump it attitude. We spoke to Jeff personally who said that all you have to do is use a special bell and bracket set which moves the caliper further in, aleviating the problem. Modified parts were supplied, brakes fitted, job jobbed. If you really want a decent service, then ring on a Saturday morning when only Jeff and Fiona are there.
I got a brake upgrade kit from Fiona myself today and it was a nice, simple, easy transaction and even got discount purely by asking.
So, in simple terms,
speak to the lads = crap service, failed promises
speak to the bosses = good service, fulfilled promises

for those exact reasons id never use hi spec again.
i first used Geoff around 8 years ago and was apalled at his service, let alone the lack of quality of his shonky goods. anyone who has been to him since has always has similar experience - and i always say avoid them but no one listens until its to late.
his rear brake kits come with hoses that are to short (unless hes now rectified that problem), discs that crack in record time - and he will always find a way of blaming the customer.
Mike, i know your customer service is good, but to still buy goods via yourself that have come from that prick is never going to be good enough for me.
id rather lick piss off a nettle than have anything to do with Hi-Spec.

Braking is also about pads and fluid, so you have to make sure the kit is specced correctly for each application as well
.
You should take a look at their Mega-monster 6 calliper - it really is a VERY well made piece of kit

Wil,
The AP 6-pot (black CP5555 callipers) 356x32 kit is Ł1,865.00 (the red "budget" CP7040 is cheaper at Ł1,645.00)
The closest to that is the Mega Monster kit, which uses 360 x 32 Performance Friction discs and the pads you quote, which is Ł1,750.00 through me
.
The AP 6-pot (black CP5555 callipers) 378x32 kit is Ł2,368.00 (the red "budget" CP7040 is cheaper at Ł1,938.75)
The closest to that is the Mega Monster kit, which uses 378 x 32 Performance Friction discs, which is Ł1,800.00 through me

Good info there........what sort of discount would be available to an impoverished & humble builder of loudspeakers? I should add, one that has the utmost respect for you and your fine knowledge of all things Cosworth......
