This is the only forum I use where if you post a topic and it error's, when you use the 'back' button, your reply text has gone. Co-incidentally, it just happens to be the forum that crashes the most!!

Usually its when you type an epic reply that the board crashes when you send it. Then, I for one can't be arsed to retype it all and it may have been a useful reply!!

Is there a sticky? I cant see one about searches... unless its in about the reliabilty? I haven't read that one - I dont experience problems with PF!

I have serached by just my posts (use that feature alot)- but for example I posted about fuels, octane in particular, which I can't find.

I see your point totally Steve, but at the moment we are trying to slim down a bit to not only give PF that close-knit feeling once again, but to give the server a bit of rest (even tho it is only running at 1% capacity LOL), and also to give the webteam a bit of an easier life when it comes to looking after the place.

However, your thoughts have been noted. never say never

Its all very well saying move this from GD to where ever, then also move this aswell, whats going to be left in GD? i mean its called "general" isnt it, most of what i see i call general anyway, and most of the time people who DO post pc/tech questions in GD (or whatever) are people who actually know theres dedicated sections for the topic, they just post here because its the busiest section, whether or not moving all the topics in the correct place will work i dont know

I dont have anything to add apart from work on fixing the site errors in the evening

Actually ive got a very good suggestion here..........

On another forum i visit they have this thing to click on if what your going to say is off topic, so you click on the "off topic" button and then another box pops up on the screen, you enter the text in and click "ok", then when you hit submit theres a box that appears and it says "OFF TOPIC COMMENT click to view) then if the thread starter doesnt want to read anything that isnt on topic you dont click on it and read it, if you do want abit of banter or whatever then click on it much better idea than telling you mods to clean all threads for off topic replys, and get abused for doing so

We have already covered this.
Give it time, and those dead sections will slowly get busier, if for nothing more than the fact that everyones posts are moved into them!
Eventually, people will learn to post them in there in the first place

you obviously want your money's worth lyne

it's a bit of a stretch to delete off topic replies to posts though, you've be left with 2 replies and then the thread would get locked because they'd be more concerened about it going the wrong way and this would lead to more problems

sometiems going off topic can lead, in a roundabout sort of way, to other answers that, although not the answers people were looking for, answers that answer questions that don't need to be posted over and over again

i'm still looking for an answer to a hd question that was asked which had a link to a certain forum, and then the topic went away from that question and ended up somewhere else, but because it's all contained in one post you don't have 50 posts in the same day all asking verious hd telly questions

one more thng, if i try and find my posts, i get one page with several others in the list, but as soon as i click on the second page it says "no subject meets your search criter"
would this be related to the search issues problem or is it something else that needs looking at?

thank you

How about some form of contact when you are banned? everytime someone is banned you see a post asking why that person was banned.

So, how about you make a signature similiar to the one when a signature/avatar is removed stating the reason he was banned, or even the rule he broke highlighted. Would save all the 'Why was he banned' threads. Also an email to the banned member would be good aswel.

Good idea?
