Default Wheel not touching hub nut with spacer on, is this bad?

Might be a really daft question but something i did not consider until i noticed it yesterday.
Basically, the ring that locates the wheel around the outside of the hub nut on your front hub, does it HAVE to go inside the wheel to provide extra support for the wheel or not?
I.e situation is that I have big brakes and 17" RL7 wheels and need to fit longer studs and spacers to clear calipers and it appears that the wheels will go on but are only supported by the suds, i.e the hub nut is too far back and does now not touch the wheel.
Might be worrying over nowt, and offset aside, just wanted piece of mind really.

If at all possible yes, how big are your spacers???

If they are about 10mm or more then you should get hubcentric versions which come with the centres that the wheel locates on!!

HTH!

It's very bad! You really do want the wheel located on the hub properly.

The wheels are 35 or 38 mm i think, I'd have to check to be 100% sure, they're only 17" tho.

The spigot ring around the hub nut it what supports the car. The bolts/studs are there to hold the wheel onto the hub.
