Default Would You Say I Was Being Selfish Or Not? - Be Honest..

My dad has a friend, everything she has, he has to have it. Does my fucking head right in. The only thing she has he hasn't got is a fucking fanny and I'm sure he plays with his arse to make up for it. Anyway, I asked him could I have a SatNav for my birthday and he said no as they was too expensive. I don't mind so I wasn't too botherd. Then his mate bought one so he had to have one of course. She had a NavMan N60i and I told him I wanted a TomTom as I have used both in my car and I liked the tomtom better and it was over £100 cheaper.

Anyway, he kept asking me over and over again did I like the N60i. I told him time and time again I preferred the TomTom and it was cheaper. Also I found when borrowing a friends N60i it wouldn't work to well in my car as I have a heated fron windscreen so I'm told but the TomTom had no problems. He asked me again, and again, and again, and again. I kept giving him the same answer but he had to have the N60i because his friend had one. Bare in mind it was my 21st birthday.

Anyway, come my birthday and he had bought me the N60i. I wasn't too botherd as it's a present and I should be greatful as it is afterall, £100 more expensive. I've had it about a month and it's not worked once.

I have sinced used a friends TomTom as my own wouldn't work in my car. My dads car doesen't have a heated front screen and it works fine in his car but it won't work in mine. So I asked him would he mind if I swap it for a TomTom and he can save himself £100 as I know he has skinted himself big time to buy it anyway and he said 'No you can't, it works in my car'. He then said I can use it in his car if I was going anywhere but I'm not insured I think it's pointless when it's my birthday present.

But according to my parents I am selfish and don't appreciate what I have had bought for me because I'm a spoilt brat.

Am I in the wrong? Or has he once again bought something he wanted himself and given me no thought at all?

Benni.

cozzfather To be honest mate, I wouldn't want to drive it any faster than I do my 1.6 focus as it's not my car. So might be a more thrilling ride if you was to take me out in it? I'll come mate.

Cheers for the offer mate, It's much appreciated. Benni.

AFPMSL! I've just had it working in my local park and it took me and my dog home, I felt safer knowing if I got lost walking through the park I have been walking in for over 15 years I had my NavMan to guide me home... All of 25 seconds away. Must admit it's a cracking piece of kit when it works. But it won't work when I need it too.

The best part is, when my dad said I could use it in his car he said 'Don't go out the area, your not insured'.

'Al just go round the block one more time dad it's great'.

I wasn't a fan of road angel. Took ages to get a signal in London, so much so, I stuck the tom on my phone on and drove a good few miles before road angel sorted itself out.

Never used Navman.

What would have been in an ML63? That was proper rubbish

As for selfish? No, just swap it with your mate. It's yours after all.

it's the thought that counts benni

he may be a cunt but at least he's made the effort, perhaps buying you the wrong one was a mistake and he's a bit too much of a "man" to admit he was wrong

you've got to find a way to say "look dad, i really appreciate you've bought me this satnav system, i really am, but unfortunatly it's not compatable with the car i drive as the heater elements confuse the signal, it works fine in yours beacuse you don't have the windscreen, next time we are going soemwhere i'll show you what i mean, but, in the mean time, you will be able to use it in your car so here you go, you can have it"
what you don't want to say is "you cunt, i told you what i fucking well wanted and you still bought this overpriced peice of shit, stick it up your arse you fucking deaf bastard!!!!!"

To be honest it sounds like he bought it for himself instead of you. I've had the same thing done with a Road Angel too .

I wouldn't worry about it, your 21 now anyway. Just let him have it and go out and buy the tom tom.

I borrowed a mate's Navman before i got my own TomTom, what a load of fucking junk! I drove from Leeds to Sheffield and it finally got a signal on the other side of Barnsley. Also if you go round roundabouts a bit sharpish, it loses signal too

Flog it on ebay and buy a tomtom
