Question Fiesta 2.5 RS Project?.

hey guys im newly registered to this forum but have browsed through in the past at some projects.
my project sounds a crazy one for a start, but probably a first but going to take some time too,
i currently own a tidy fiesta mk6.. since owning it i want more poke from it was thinking an ST 2litre engine at first, but then began thinking how about a mk2 focus RS 2.5litre 5cylinder engine but very unsure about the dimensions of the engine to fit in my engine bay. but could be still possible as the engine is originally a Volvo T5 engine i believe and was adapted to fit the focus shell with a new gearbox.
as i havent seem to find that anyone has done a conversion such as this i thought id give it a shot, yes its going to cost some £££ to do such a conversion im no stranger to a garage and tools ;P but my knowlege around the electrical side will be abit crap if im honest..
any help ideas anything will be taken and appriciated

I'd go for the Fiesta 2.0 duratec lump and turbo that personally. Then again it all depends on your power target

Would of thought that engine and gearbox combo would be too long for the engine bay they are tight in the focus. Would of thought chassis leg mods or a spaceframe would be required

Personally I think it won't fit without huge modifications. What about the new 4pot focus ST engine?

they only just fit in a focus. It'll require a fair bit of work

thats what i thought guys thanks for your feedback think ill have to consider a different engine possibly.. or risk and go for modification.. but i carnt see any point in doing that by far will require fabricating all the front end, and i dont have the time or extra cash for that.

so possibly a 2L zetec turbo engine sounds more plausible... and so much cheaper...

having been measuring up the focus and fiesta bay alone its same in width from strut to strut. just not from the bulkhead forwards theres abit more of a room in a focus but its still doo'able ive managed to track down a supplier for a complete engine transplant, Engine, gearbox loom ecu drive shafts hubs and suspention and full subframe. ive got equiptment i can use so should be a swift build possibly wont be till january till i start the conversion.

They're certainly a long engine, I've got an 850 T5 and it looks huge in that

Rear mount it

Just a thought, I don't think the Volvo 5 speed is as large as the 6 speed in the Focus, might be worth looking into for space.

the ST engine is about 2-3 inches narrower than the older T5 counterparts. Ford redesigned it smaller to fit in

Indeed, it has been done. The car was on eBay and then I saw it on the way back from a show. I was later told it had a Volvo engine rather than the ST as it was smaller, but that conflicts with the info above.

It was a 2.5 turbo 5-pot anyway!

may of been a new gen t5 fitted in the c30 and s40. One of the main reasons the liners are so weak was because they made it narrower

hi guys thanks for the comments and sorry about the long reply lol alot been going on busy at work etc, looking at alternative plans now to put a nice lump in the car, alot less work is needed a escort RS 2000 with a 4x4 box im currently watching on eBay, possibly going to join the bottom end of that engine with a 2.3 cylinder head from a Galaxy.. was wondering if i could get a new set of pistons to turbo the engine.. alot of options right now... what do you people think??
if i had the money i'd go full out and drop a cosworth lump in the car.. but i dont have that deep of pockets lol.

Personally it's not outrageous enough to warrant the agg of fitting it when a 2.0 duratec will go straight in with very little effort and its a better engine. What about a supercharged 2.0 duratec?

you use the galaxy bottom end and rs head for the 2.3,great engine, i have one in my escort, also you can low pressure turbo the 2.3 by using the 2.0 crankshaft to lower the compression which makes it a low compression 2.2 with a gt2528 and 8 psi of boost, one made 240bhp.but thats bout max boost for the standard internals.

hi all just thought I would make a post as somebody told me about this, the one advised above if was blue and was on ebay 3-4 years ago I bought, and I still have as guy hadn't quite finished it, It is a focus st engine 2.5 turbo with focus st gearbox and as far as I know was/ is the only 1 until you build this. mine has been off the road having everything redone/ finished since I bought it but will be back out in the next month and going to shows this year so may see you all then.
