refitting a 4x4 sump

what should i use? most people say just use blue gasket sealer but whoever had the car before put so much on that my pick up pipe was covered with the stuff. or is a proper gasket the way to go with gasket sealer?

the proper ford sealer is not bad, i normally use 3 bond stuff.

No gasket, just a good sealant along with the 2 half moons...but not too much, just a smidgen, squash a dod in each corner of the half moons and also smear some all over them.
