Default 4.44 kit

Just wanted to know which top speed you would get with a 4.44 crown kit for the rear diff and the pignons + chain 4.44 kit for the front transfer box. Also how much do you recon it does cost. Got one, but would like to know if the price was a bargin or not. I guess, yes, but who knows.

Standard ratios with a 4.44 final drive gives -

Top Gear gives 18.110 MPH/1000 RPM and a top speed of 126.769 MPH at 7000 RPM

Engine speeds in top gear:-
30 MPH = 1657 RPM 40 MPH = 2209 RPM 50 MPH = 2761 RPM 60 MPH = 3313 RPM
70 MPH = 3865 RPM 80 MPH = 4417 RPM 90 MPH = 4970 RPM 100 MPH = 5522 RPM

Top Speed in 1 gear = 29.146 MPH
And changes into 2 gear at 4033 RPM dropping 2967 RPM
Top Speed in 2 gear = 50.586 MPH
And changes into 3 gear at 4577 RPM dropping 2423 RPM
Top Speed in 3 gear = 77.366 MPH
And changes into 4 gear at 5147 RPM dropping 1853 RPM
Top Speed in 4 gear = 105.218 MPH
And changes into 5 gear at 5810 RPM dropping 1190 RPM
Top Speed in 5 gear = 126.769 MPH

Thats with a rev limier of 7000 rpm and on standard size tyres 205/50/R15

Hell I thought I had got one, but the guy finally told me he sold it to another guy.

So if anyone knows where there is a 4.44 rear diff (7 1/2) and the chain kit for the transfer box, please tell me.

marco polo, while your online.

quickie in regards to a quaife ATB rear diff (7")
what would you roughly quote to remove the 3.9 CWP from one of my diffs and have it fitted into an already asembled Quaife.

Ta.

Xen, sorry to hijack your thread.

4.44 is great gearing for kh. martin has it coupled to his 520 gibbs engine on a t4 and it pulls really well on a r&d box (cant mind if it is 5 or 6 speed) red escos normally on 16" rfx's.

Sorry to annoy you mate, but could you tell me how you did these maths, because I want to do them by myself with these values :

225/40R16 tyres with gearbox ratio :

1: 2.649 or 2.390
2: 1.909
3: 1.515
4: 1.227
5: 1.000

With the chain kit and 7 1/2 rear diff, a plate for the front diff would cope with the bigger amount of torque or not enough ?

Thank you mate !

For those who want the answer to my question :

4.44 diff with 225/40R16 tyres and gearbox ratios :

1: 2.390
2: 1.909
3: 1.515
4: 1.227
5: 1.000

Speeds with shifting at 6k rpm :

1: 2.390 (39 m/h)
2: 1.909 (49 m/h)
3: 1.515 (61 m/h)
4: 1.227 (76 m/h)
5: 1.000 (93 m/h)

Err 93 m/h even for a rally car is too short imo. Gonna look at gearbox settings now because don't wanna touch the tyres size.

Cheers

Got a brand new never been used 4.44 rear diff with Quaife internals :

Don't remember if it is a 7" or 7.5" but anyway I need now the kit for the front. I noticed marco's offer (350£) for it brand new, will think about it, but sounds like a great option. Still I have few months to find a great bargin.
