Hi Guys,

I’m looking to buy a new car soon as I have landed a new job and need to travel 20 miles each way, therefore I need a useable / reliable car that will keep me entertained. (I have a budget of approx 6.5).

Skoda Vrs -- Possible
Civic type R – To harsh for motorway mileage
Seat cupra – to expensive
Focus St 170 – to Bland
Scoobies – To raw for motorway


Considering all the above factors I’m thinking of maybe a mark 4 Astra GSI turbo. I know it’s a Vauxhall but thinking logically you get a lot for your money.
Half Leather Recaro’s, 200 BHP, Aircon , CD player etc….
Low mileage, one-owner cars are also in good supply.

Has anyone ha any experience with these cars? Am I mad?

I have just bought one, 03 reg with 41k on it and it is VERY VERY good.....better than i expected. The build quality is superb...as you would expect from Audi/VW as that is what it is. Comes with everything...FULL electrics, Climate control, Leather ect ect ect

Looks hard as nails and goes very well. Handles brilliant. tbh i cant find a fault with it.

Does 37mpg as well
