Default Testing the ISCV??? - Now TPS - iscv ok :)

Hi Guys,

Any way that yuo can do this - its decided it doesn't want to click when I turn the ignition on - and disconnecting it makes no difference to the idle speed..
Its certainly not the wiring as its all brand new.
(BT Escos btw)

Cheers

stick a voltage across it and see if it opens

it might just need taking apart and cleaning,, the coils in these are very good, and hardly burn out,,

Ok - cheers - I presume I'm not going to harm it by connecting it directly to the bat?
Bloody cars lol

MAKE SURE ITS CONNECTED IN THE RIGHT POLARITY

This is because some have an internal diode and you will short it out
badly if you connect it up backwards.

ALso, the valve will not attampt to move if the ecu doesnt think the throttle
is at idle. Could be a TPS fault.....

lol - so I may have fucked it anyhow... lol - anyone got a cossie ISCV for sale
Oh well, that and the TPS were the only sensors not brand new, and new TPS would have been the next one to buy

Simon- how do you test which way it should be connected? - just continuity test, and see which way you get a buzz on the multimeter?

Cheers

Cheers Ryan - hopefully it won't come to that lol

Ritey, just been out and put a voltage across the iscv, and it DOES click - which in itself is good news at least - som, onto the next question... - how do I test the TPS? - isn't it a question of checking resistances ? I really hope this is the root of my problems lol

Cheers again guys

T.P.S has 3 wires.

It's a fixed resistance with a wiper contact that moves along it's length (except it's circular) as the centre is twisted.

That gives you 3 pairs to test.

Between 1 of them there is a fixed resistance.
Between another pair there is an increasing resistance
Between the 3rd pair there is a decreasing resistance

I don't have a Cos T.P.S so can't tell you the wire colours, but on my Mustang that uses EEC 1V as Cos do? the fixed resistance is about 4500 ohms.
Increasing value goes between 640 ohms and 4500 ohms, and the reverse for the other.

Pin 1 of ecu connect your negative probe.
Pin 17 of ecu connect your positive probe.

PF09 ONLY
Plug the ecu multiplug back into the ecu and turn on the ignition.
Adjust the sensor to read <0.35volts at idle position.

Sorted
Basically, i've recently fitted a new engine loom as i wanted to be sure that the inner wing multiplug problem wouldn't come back to haunt me - had all beed replaced, but with wanting to sort everything ready for big power later on, decided to sort the loom...
Anyhow, all fitted (and a HUGE thanks to Ryan for all of his help! ) and it seems that yesterday i had the above problem - along with the rev-counter not reading properly (which i put down to coilpack conversion) and the oil pressure guage reading at 5 bar all of the time... - pretty obvious I'd connected the 2 the wrong way round on the sensor... - quick swap (i say quick - i mean half hour of bending in ways that shouldn't be possible) and fire up again... - oil pressure gauge now ok, ISCV clicking, and the rev-counter reading correctly too

To say I'm happy that all seems to be as it should is an understatment! - Next job is to re-wire the fuel pump with some nice fresh cable, and fit my 023 pump, and secs monitor... (oh, and some more quip and carbon lol)

Cheers for all the help here guys - much appreciated

Yes it will !!!

A car battery can peak 800+ amps and it WILL fry that diode as well
as warming up the cables even in a fraction of a second.

0,35 volt at idle?
i adjusted mine to 150mv in idle and 4750 at WOT.
anyone know if this is ok?
