Default lost mobile

Lost my phone the other night, so spoke to orange to have it blocked and blacklisted, but does this mean that the phone is now completely useless? or can some toe-rag get into my contacts list and messages etc?

They can still get into your messages, and into your numbers.

And hence any homemade porn pictures you have, could easily find their way to your mum if thats what you are worried about

Don't they just block the IMEI number so the phone won't take any sim card?
without a sim card they shouldn't be able to access your numbers or messages.

right, im now going to clear up all the BULLSHIT surrounded with blocked phones.

if you lose a phone on orange. you ring up orange, they will block it. this will block the phone pretty much instantly. the IMEI number of your handset (which is unique) will then be passed on to ALL british networks and be blocked with them too. the blocking for the other networks can take anything from a couple of days to a couple of weeks. hence why a blocked phone will sometimes work for a bit on another network before finally getting fully blocked.

wankers down the pub will come out with:

"i'll just get it unlocked for a fiver and it'll work on another network!"

utter tosh.

"i took the sim card out straight away so it wont get blocked!"

utter tosh.

SOME phones you can change the IMEI number on meaning it will work again (it's highly illegal, but only takes seconds to do if you know what you doing). this can only be done on certain phones, one's WITHOUT an OTP chip. OTP stands for 'one time program' which basically means it can only have the IMEI number and other vital information written once at the factory, and for love nor money, you CANNOT get into them again, let alone re-program them. this chip cannot be replaced either as removal completely fucks the phone.

nokias, all the way form a 3210 up to the new one's CANNOT be IMEI'd (or 'rebranded')...full stop.

the one's that can be are mostly the older sony ericssons (up to the w810i, NON after that), most samsungs can be, some LG's aswell.

day in day out i have the age old conversation with muppets thinking that 5 quids worth of unlocking will bring a black listed phone back to life.

it gets tedious!

Why didn't you have the sim pin code on when you boot up and and auto lock code of say 3 minutes if the phone isn't used. The hassle of keying in the unlock code before you want to use it each time is a small price to pay for peace of mind. Plus it keeps the mrs out.

imei numbers can be changed as forver white says..people i used to associate with did it alot..extremly illegal..and only takes a few mins..

best way to be is have a security code and a pin code..the security code can be cleared i think..but the pin cannot be opend at all i also think llol

security code is on the phone.

pin code is on the sim.

fuck around with codes at your peril. they have a habbit of biting you in the ass.
