AIM MXL Dash

Well I assume I'll need oil pressure/temp sensors, but it will get all the date like RPM etc etc from the Omex?
Polly - That looks fantastic.

Basically you only need sensors for anything you want to connect direct to the dash. If you have temps and pressures into your ECU then it would read from there. (If its a compatable ECU)
Heres another pic showing the full dash.

Maybe you can select a different ECU that has the same protocol for the datastream or can you select the output in the ECU software to match up with the dash? You have to set the T6 to STACK output.

Then in the AIM software you select Pectel under the ECU type and then T2/T6 from there.

You WILL be very impressed when you get it up and running.
Just downloaded the latest software and firmware updates too from AIM as they develop and update them very regularly.
Off to the garage to laod them up to the MXL now!
Yeah its only the newer version of Emerald that will share with Aim.
Ive had mine upgraded to accept this
Looking forward to having a display that is is accurate and also easy to look at rather than 10 seperate pod gauges.

Problem is the rpms aren't that easy to read when driving fast I think. Much faster to read the rpms on a normal gauge. Anyone agreeing or is it just a matter of time to adapt yourself to this digital rpm gauging ?

Isn't it ?Jay, if you were connecting it to your ECU, what extra sensors would you need?
Cant believe you went for the ETB over the AIM.
needed oil temp/pres a speed sensor then the idiot lights
mate i dont think ive made abad choice tbh the etb build quality is spot on exellent package gps ect really good customer service , i just dont think the aim isworth Ł600+ vat then another Ł200 for sub loom and sensors

You already have 4 speed sensors on your car too so no expense there?
And like I said you can get them for way less than 600 for the unit!!!
Seems to be to be well wrth the money for the features you get..
I spent almost twice that on my pod styel gauges and those basterds are almost 20% out of calibration from the ECU readings.
Questions is however, is a STACK dash better?...(bring on the debate lol)

With clever positioning of the shiftlights you can often use the reflection as a pseudo "HUD" right in front of your eyes on the windscreen

I also have the AIM wide band lampda and EGT connected and it shows everything else from the ECU like a pectel monitor really.

Hi Stu
So could this hook up to a L8 ecu??? and what about displaying AFR and EGT

Mine displays AFR on a separate page. Ive got the AIM wide band AFR LCU-One kit installed.

a) AIM programmed it to accept the pectel protocol
b) the datastream in the ECU was changed to be compatible with the AIM
c) you put a converter in between - you can get converters that would take the serial datastream from the ECU and convert it either to a serial datastream compatible with the AIM, or convert it to a CANBus signal
the problem is, very few people know what the protocol is for the output of the L8/P8 datastream and those that do have not shown any interest in doing this
