Just been chatting to my dad, He works in the film industry doing rigging and stage hand stuff, But he's working over in Battersea at the moment on location...

he bumps into my cousin,whos 19 and a sparkie.. dad gets talking to him asking hows he's finding it etc

Gets onto the subject of what he earns a week.... and he's on just over £1000 a week...

when i was 16/17 working as a sparky i was on £700 take home a week that was on price of course 7 years later im not on price and taking home about 400-500 a week

as far as i know the all the firms that pay on a price no matter what trade 1k a week is not really a problem (obviously you gotta work for that)


day work firms only pay the bare minimum but then you only do enough to cover your day rate

My mate has just left a sparky job for the local council to work with an agency and he is clearing around 1k a week.

Im clearing around £800 but thats the same for the weeks i work and the ones i dont , working on a 3 on 3 off rota.

I do fuckall for 35 hours (over 4 days) and see a basic of £613.88 a week.

But this week I will see an extra £225 before tax taking it to £838 - thats due to working my rest day today for 9 hours to sign a new route in

Dont forget most selfemployed people have to pay out for a lot more things than the emplyed people, Such as National Insurance, Income Tax yearley, Fuel, Transport, Tools

I earn fuck all..... £350 odd a week before tax, plus whatever bonus I get. For example, I earned about £115 this week in bonus, so thats £465 minus tax...

But apart from my mortgage, I am (currently ) debt free ; no loans, no credit cards, etc etc... So all in all I'm a not TOO unhappy chappy... Could always do with more money tho I have seen over £800 in a week before, but it's a rare thing and in my job you have to work HARD to get that (and I mean 6-7 days in the week, and long 10-12 hr shifts) I'd like to do it everyweek, but I weigh up the positives (money) against the negatives (working) and most of the time I can't be fucked

No way is he a doctor on 1k a week......try 2k a week then maybe. Doctor's and consultants earn silly amounts just doing NHS, then alot of of them do private work too. 100k a year is the average just for NHS.

i'm on about £450 a week, after tax/national insurance/share scheme (£30 a week)/Pension.

pretty good really considering i've got fuck all qualifications and get 2 weeks off every 3 weeks

Also, a very good friend has just qualified as a Doctor. Working for the NHS and does not make 100k a year. Nowhere near it infact..

But then location will play a massive part on salary.

I remember when I started out working (after paper rounds etc) I joined a company as a trainee... took home 350 quid my first month.. At 16, I was loving it.. and lets just say it's all paid off well now
