On Price... So I work 5/6 days a week and usually work 6am-6pm 90% of the time.
Dont forget most selfemployed people have to pay out for a lot more things than the emplyed people, Such as National Insurance, Income Tax yearley, Fuel, Transport, Tools
I dont get why people are so secretive about what they earn?? Id tell anyone that asked me??

Also, a very good friend has just qualified as a Doctor. Working for the NHS and does not make 100k a year. Nowhere near it infact..
But then location will play a massive part on salary.
Maybe your mate is a newly qualified doc and doesnt make 100k, but thats not surprising as anyone who is new to any trade doesn't go on top whack straight away.....still i bet your mate is on 30-40k per year, what apprentices or learners in ANY other trade earn that?
By the way i work for NHS at the countess of chester hospital. AVERAGE doctors pay is 100k.

I remember when I started out working (after paper rounds etc) I joined a company as a trainee... took home 350 quid my first month.. At 16, I was loving it.. and lets just say it's all paid off well now
Everyone has to start somewhere..

Anything to do with property services , ie lekky, plumber, builder, plasterer seems to be the way to make £££ at the moment, for years the "white collar" jobs have looked down on trades, and schools/collages have put loads of people through stupid courses like media studies/ phycology etc, means that there is a real shortage of skilled tradesmen.
I can't decide if I want to do building, plumbing or sparks, or a combination of all of them, as I want to change jobs in the next few years.
Currently in the RAF , as an aircraft engineer, I earn about £200 short of £27,000 a year, but get lots of time off/ benefits like good pension plan etc, but getting bored of being away from home so much and the cutbacks and stupid decisions . And I want to make better £££ for myself (who dosen't? )

a 19 year old sparky wont be on a grand a week. at 19 he will only be a 2nd year apprentice no matter were he works.
i need to do 75 hours a week ( 12hrs x 5 +11hrs x 2)to walk out with a grand as a joiner on an average rate up in edinburgh.
building trades full of people who like to stand about whingeing about their current job and how they usually earn £1000's for 35 hour weeks and others who like to over exaggerate to impress.
i started out as a 17 year old on a government training scheme earning £27.50 a week for my first year rising to £35 for the second year. fortunately my placement company took me on as a proper apprentice after my frst year but iirc i was into my 3rd year before i was clearing £100 a week in the late 80's

sparkying in london self employed will easy bring in 1k a week but as said alot has to come out of that, digs, travel, tax etc. I did it for a year but decided self employed was too much hassle. Took a fair drop but I get holiday days now and someone else pays for my van/diesel/digs and when I go home I can forget it all, not like been self empoyed where you worry every night where your next contract is coming from. Now on about 650 a week commissioning High Voltage switchgear and shit.
Most sites I go on now the average is easy 1k a week, its tempting but im happy where I am, specialist job with a good future.

Dunno, 19k + commission/bonus of between £300-£800 per month, plus bits and pieces of sales incentives and very good pension. Guess averages about £480 a week.
Sounds like a fair bit (to me anyway!!) but I always seem to be broke!!
Deffo true the more you earn, the bigger and more expensive your fun.

Doesn`t matter how much you earn being happy in your job counts for alot. All you need is enough to keep you going and anything else is a bonus. Oh and I`m a spark

i aint on anything near you guys, but quite like my job, i work 8 to5.30 mon/tues, off every wed then same again 8 to 530 thurs/ fri off the weekend
going back to what doctors are on ££ dont know p.a but a normal gp can charge an insurance comp upto 300 odd quid for a medical report, some claimants have told us the exam didnt take any more than 30 mins
£10 a minute not bad if you can get it and this will be ontop of their normal salary.
two 30min exams a week and your looking at upto £600.
some of the reports i see are less than useless.

think is, if youre self employed int he building trade, 1k a week is easy, whats hard is making 1k every week! If you average out the good times and the lean, youre gonna be talking half.

Going by some of the figures posted on here, i cant understand why some are messing around on a ford site with cars at a couple of grand. If some of you are on the money you 'say', you should be driving around in a decent super car of some sort at least.

around £400-800 depending on what and when i do. currently doing all aspects of building work (well have been for 14 years) for family so the money is shit! but its family run and i can skive off and do my own bits and still have a basic wage to pay bills etc! i work on the weekends to pay for my projects!!
i regret not becoming certified ( college etc) as all sites want these to enable you to work as anything other than a labourer!
thing is, i have been on site and some of the idiots that have come in fully quailfied is a joke! i have forgot more than they know..

if i'd have stuck to what i was doing i might have been earning shed loads more money
BUT
i enjoy doing what i do and even thogh i have regrest about the things i have done and the choices i have made, i wouldn't be the man i am today without having been skinted by my motors, killed by my mate, missing out on becoming a property millionaire etc etc
my brother on the toher hand, earns £60k a year in IT and is a bit of a cunt, and if that's what money does to you, i'd rather be skint
well, not literaly, but you know what i mean
