Driving with no Tax?
I'm in a bit of a tight spot at the moment, and unfortunately in a bit of a vicious circle too. My car just ran out of tax and i have no money to buy some, but i need to drive the car in order to make money at work... i'll need to drive around for 2 days or more to come up with the money..anyway
Driving with no tax, spot fine.. how much? and penatly points? etc..
It's a risk i have to take, otherwise i can't pay bills

But surely now if ur tax is out of date there is no hiding from it, you will get a £80 fine slapped thru ur door?
My car is off the road (although not SORN) and has had no tax for a month.. ive not got anything yet! watch me get intoday and there be a letter from the DVLA!

well it should only be for a few days and it'll be parked in private property most of the night.. poilice around here are usually alright, been let off with tax before whilst being parked on double yellows etc..
It's risky biscuits but how often do you get stopped by the police? knowing my luck i'll get stopped lol.. anyway..
can they check if a car has tax on their wee computery things now?

i drove my car for about 6 days without tax as i had it booked in for mot so couldnt get tax anyway.
also, my tax out end of august and i didnt get back from holiday till the 10th sept but got it the next day.
you should be ok for a few days, just very bad luck if you get caught

Under the new DVLA law the rules are:
If a vehicle is not taxed or had SORN declared within 14 days of the RFL running out, an £80 fine will automatically be issued to the Registered Keeper.
Driving without valid RFL invalidates your Insurance which then becomes a Police / Court matter so points and a fine are almost certain.
Driving a vehicle that has had SORN delared carries a maximum £1000 fine + back dated duty.
Your risk mate, but if you get caught you could well regret it.

Can you not borrow the money off someone to put some tax on it, gonna end up paying it sooner or later anyway right (provided you are actually planning to do it this month.... )
I borrowed £90 off a mate a few weeks ago as the missus couldn't afford to pay me what she owed me (that was pencilled in to pay the car tax) as it isn't worth the risk anymore.

it does take 2 months and they DO allow 1 month to get it sorted, all my cars get 6 months tax on em and i renew 1 month after it expires, they wont do shit, if they do the argue and mention when ya got the tax disc and ya will see ya payed for a whole month even though ya might have only got 10 days due to paying ya tax
oh and chris i forgot to sorn my car too, 3 months later i get a letter, i send a snotty letter of to em asying ya never sent me a sorn letter to sorn it so i sent a letter telling the local office that me cars off the road so why are ya NOW sending me a letter with a sorn declaration and a fine
somthing seems moody here, heres my cheque, DO NOT cahs till i go to court as im not gonna have you fine me for what i have done to the best of my abillity
belive it or not i got my exact cheque back after 3 DAYS saying no further action at this time
from now on i will ALWAYS offer to go to court, ya seem to have a better dealing with
oh and 6 points for not car tax aint right mate, appeal it as ive been done a few times for no tax ( in my naughty days )
the court dont even mention if the car has tax or not as thats a different court that deals with it, car tax aint the police, its customs and excise
ya was robbed or ya forgot to mention somthing
