PS I'm going the airbox route on the escort as I cant be arsed getting rid of it & will have a direct airfeed into it from the driver side morette.

I'm also getting old so the noise will piss me off with a airfilter

Only in bits really mate, as we never had digi camera's in them days!

It was C8 RST that Ripley bought off me after selling his Fiesta.

As I said to Doug, I couldn't give a fuck what you have fitted to your cars, I wouldn't fit that to mine for the reasons I have stated .

You have yours that way it is because it's a road car and does loads of miles in all conditions etc etc blah blah.....Ok I'm almost having that BUT Is that the same reason why you run track use suspension geometry on the road that's not nice for road use? It's all about compromise.

Like Lee said no Donut this time so I guess you can't 'eat it'

Hence why I am getting those adjustable top mounts to enable me to run a road setting and then quickly revert to the track setting with just one spanner (and I'm not referring to you either )

Have that back Because when you adjust the camber to your road setting it will knock the toe out adjustment of which is not a simple case of one spanner with the bonnet opened.

Martin,
I will be measuring EXACTLY what happens to the toe when I move the camber from 3° to 2°, and I'm pretty sure from previous experimentations that it will be within Ford tolerances, and given the fact that only the track setting has to be spot on (I don't push the car on the road), I'm not too worried about the toe changing too much, I just want to reduce the torque steer that the excessive camber gives on the road .

Mike, ONE degree of camber is 8.5mm (on an 18" wheel)............so the toe will change (outwards) by 70% of that figure - therefore you'l have an extra 6 mm more toe-out than you had it set too ......why not just toe it in so that the tyres are touching each other and be done with it

Mike, only you could say its a good thing that when you swap from your road spec to your track spec it will get less agressive at turning in just to win an internet argument

Chip,
I removed the comment, as I will set it up how I want it and I will be experimenting with the changes to see how drastic the effects are to see if it is acceptible. I may only need to set it to 2.5° to radically decrease the torque steer, as it didn't used to be a problem until I set the camber up so aggressively .

mike 3 deg is hardley aggressive camber really, if yiur trying to sort the torque steer out then look to other means rather than the camber

Unless the car fell into a river there should be no problems, I have driven in heavy rain on the motorway and all was ok.
