Default Decking the block?

I had to get 5 thou taken off the block as it had quite a deep scratch, is this a big problem for vavlue clearance?

The head has also had the smallest amount faced off it to clean it up.

Thanks

Off the top of my head - 4 thou is about 0.1mm - so 5 thou isn't a huge amount...

All depends what you're running? Lairy cams? High/Low comp pistons? Valve cutouts?

Its standard engine with standard everything so should it be ok? Im just worried incase i have ot get the pistons machined which would be better knowing now rather than when its all bolted together

The only way to know for sure would be to dummy build the engine (use the old headgasket) with some plasticine on top of the pistons. Turn the engine over a few times with a spanner on the crank then remove the head. The valve's will have made an indentation in the plastacine and will show you how much piston to valve clearance you have.

5 thou removed should be fine but if you want to be sure get the same removed from the piston tops, my bet is that it will be fine without though.
