Default Putting a personalised registration on a car...

Ok...

My mum bought me a personalised plate for my 21st last year which has been held on retention in her name since.

Now i want to put it on my car and having spent ages on hold waiting for those lovely welsh people - i'm none the wiser

Can anyone tell me the quickest and easiest way?

Can you do it by post or do you need to go to your local DVLA office?

Just send it off and they will assign it to your vehicle

The documentation you have are you listed on it.

if so then yes

If your listed on the form and your car is registered in your name also you can go to your local DVLA office with

DVLA Retention Certificate
V5 Registration form
Current MOT
Current Tax Disc

They will then swap everything over for you with the new reg number.
takes about 15 minutes

However you will need to inform your insurance company before hand, as to legally drive it once the reg is changed.

Does anyone know if you can transfer a reg directly from one car you own on to a currently unregistered car, as you register it?

You might have to change the name of the nominee. It should also state on the retention certificate if the the transfer fee has been paid.

You'll need to fill in the RC, then send that off with your log book and mot ...simple really

if you go to the nearest dvla office to you with ALL the paperwork you have for the plate and your car then they will help you out and get it sorted for you
