I had one.
Is he looking for 1 with the generation 2 engine (CT26 Turbo) or for the generation 3 ?(with map sensor, and CT20B turbo)
Very nice cars, drives great, very reliable.
Watch out with turning up the boost, because of the little intercooler, which doesn't get good airflow at the back, and the stock pistons are like chocolate. With forged pistons and conrods, these engine (3S-GTE) can take awesome power!!
I installed Aquamist with Methanol/water ( 40/60), and mounted another exhaust manifold, TD05 Turbo etc etc.
Things to look for....not many, but the underside of the doors are a lot of time rusty, and check the glasses of the rooftop, because sometimes if it is raining outside....it will be inside
Regards,
Bas

I had a 1995 Rev3 GTS. Was such a great car, but I was told not to run over 1bar on the standard turbo CT20B.
As said above, mine had rust starting on the door bottoms.
Mine was a tintop though. Heres a vid of the turbo letting go

When I was looking for one a while back I read a lot about the timing belts needing changing at 60k miles and its quite a big job to do from what I read (I think it was engine out or something!). You see loads for sale on about 60k miles so make sure its been done or bank on another £500 to get it done.
Maybe someone on here can confirm this from first hand knowledge.

Oil leaks from the cam cover gasket. Oil leaks from around the turbo. Check for condition of brake discs cause toyota brake discs are shite. Timing belts are a nitemare to do.

I currently have a Rev2 Turbo.
I've literally just done the clutch and timing belt - I did take the engine out, but only because it made more sense that way as I was doing both together.
Check the car starts well from cold and idles properly. A lot of the Rev2s have AFM and/or oxygen sensor failure - no fortunes, but more money to spend.
Check for things like the front undertrays still being in place - often they don't get replaced after accidents, and they aren't all that easy to find.
Check for knocking suspension as larger wheels and hard aftermarket suspension can knock out droplinks and top mounts. Also very common.
Otherwise, it's the usual car checks. No hint of rust on mine, but it's a fairly fresh import.

PassionFord Post Whore!!
I had a REV2 for a few months... personally thought it was a piece of shit.... and it wasn't a bad one.
Have been out in Richpons car and I was quite impressed with that one...
A mate had a very good one REV3 with loads of gadgets and bits and bobs.. quick car BUT not a lot of people seem to actually know what they're doing.
As with all cars.... buy the best one you can afford... steer clear of shit which doesn't make the car fast or reliable as that what you're gonna really want...
Wheels/bodykits and the such can be added later.
