I always find that if you give them a call you get better discounts. Call them in the evening and I have found they will knock loads off the price as they want to meet their commission targets.
Just got a really good deal for my mum - pretty high spec with 19" widescreen monitor. I told them the most she could possibly pay is £500.00 and they knocked about £100.00 price off the internet price. If they won't knock money off talk them into including extras/higher spec.
Definintely worth haggling. If you don't get anywhere with the 1st person you speak to, hang up and try the next one! Trust me it works
Cheers,
Natalie

I'll go with the idea of phoning them up. I was just inquiring about a delivery date and confirmation price and five minutes later, they've knocked off £75 from the website price, thrown in a printer, case and free shipping. Its good to talk

Make up the spec you want and give them a call, ask for the availability and say your comparing prices to a few other makes that seem a bit cheaper ...If you were closer to where I am, I'd make the call for you.
If that person doesn't play ball, then hang up and try another one

Darren, im a pc gamer so obviously im obsessed with performance and such, but ive just installed vista ultimate yesterday on my pc and it works perfectly, just as fast as xp pro was, and my pc is far from top of the range(AMD 64 x2 4200, 2 gigs of ram)
If you want xp go for it, i just think its abit silly buying a new pc/lappy with old software when you can get a nice new OS on it, you will probably end up forking out £140 for it in the end anyway

I use XP and Vista at work. For all Vista looks nice and smart, I still prefer XP. Tells you something when a huge company like Dell has reversed it's stratagy and now offers XP as well as Vista. Not going down the Vista route for a while yet - not until they fix the incompatability problems like I see at work.
I didn't want an all singing / dancing Laptop. Just a dependable, well made one for general use. If I want power, I can use my desktop.
