Default ps3 blu ray

right guys i bought a ps3 the other day and im running it through component cables to my plasma tv, as its a bit older now it doesnt support hdmi, when im playing fall of man the best resolution i can get is 1280/920/ 60hz which looks pretty good anyway, but my question is will i notice the difference by playing a blu ray dvd on the ps3 as apposed to watching a normal dvd through scart like i do at present on my normal dvd player ?

The colours are amazing and the sound quality is at least twice as clear .

you cant watch blue-ray through a scart as far as im aware, as scart only supports upto 720 i think, where as blu ray is 1080p so not compatible unless you use an HDMI cable

The blu-ray films wont be in High definition. Component CAN transmit 1080p it just CANT transmit the HDCP copyright management. Thats were HDMI comes in, unless you connect you PS3 to a TV/LCD/Plasma using the HDMI connection your not going to get blu-ray films in 720p/1080p
