right guys i bought a ps3 the other day and im running it through component cables to my plasma tv, as its a bit older now it doesnt support hdmi, when im playing fall of man the best resolution i can get is 1280/920/ 60hz which looks pretty good anyway, but my question is will i notice the difference by playing a blu ray dvd on the ps3 as apposed to watching a normal dvd through scart like i do at present on my normal dvd player ?
can component support 1080p though?
thought that can only support upto 720p though? like on the xbox?
i thought only HMDI can carry a 1080 signal? must admit i havent looked into it much but thats what i thought.

The blu-ray films wont be in High definition. Component CAN transmit 1080p it just CANT transmit the HDCP copyright management. Thats were HDMI comes in, unless you connect you PS3 to a TV/LCD/Plasma using the HDMI connection your not going to get blu-ray films in 720p/1080p
