Blu-ray outsells HD DVD 3:1
Looks like the war of these formats is becoming clearer.
Thought early opinion was that HD would win but the far more capable Blu ray is doing what betamax never could.
Wonder how this will effect console sells?

although could be biased as it seems a playstation hence sony based site.
I read on net that 99% of Hd porn was being made in hd not blu ray..
cant find a link now though

I'm new to all of this, just bought a Full HD Sharp TV. It's full HD, 1080p.
I've been told the best thing to buy is an "upscaler" dvd player. Now I assme this takes normal VD's ( ) and makes them better quality, using more lines? Or some bolllocks.
Now will these upscaler DVD players play HD DVDs?

I wouldnt believe everything you read on a playstation site, I was reading the mail on sunday and they claim hddvd is winning at the moment. I quote "With cheaper players on offer HD-DVD seems to be pulling ahead in the race". I think we are going to have to wait and see, or buy one of the units that play both like the unit toshiba are offering.

For true HD you need a HD or BluRay player, mainly the consoles (360 PS3) at the moment.

Sony doesn't want porn on Blu-ray (just as with Betamax). Second, as reported by tgdaily, the porn industry overwhelmingly favors HD-DVD because it's much cheaper and easier to produce. As noted in the tgdaily article, porn was a huge factor in VHS winning the VHS/Beta format wars even though many people don't like to acknowledge it. Porn, like gaming, pushes tech adoption.

theres pleanty of places other than Sony themselfs that will be able to make Blu-Ray Discs, and Sony have said they arent against it as they want to offer bluray to all markets.
Dojj, the PS3 plays Blu-Ray, although you can just copy normal video files onto the hdd if you wanted some keep with you on your PS3

High definition DVD, HD-DVD,Bluray is worthless at the moment unless you record a sky digitaly produced show of the TV which are also few and far between.... like an old Elvis album on CD which is nothing more than an Analog recording on digital media..... A high definition DVD player will only truly perform once disks are produced using the features of this format. Considering the only thing currently being encoded to full support HD features is porn its not cost effective unless your single and frustrated

so sony won't sell pron on it's ps3 BUT you can get aftermarket pron to play on your ps3 right?
when you consider stand alone hd players, what do the figures suggest when you factor in xbox360 and ps3 sales? appreciating that the ps3 has only been on the market for a short while?

its also worth remembering that Vista offers no native support for Blu-Ray and as such the majority of media centres built using this OS will be HD-DVD... this could have greater effect than many people expect, especially when burning DVD and Blue-Ray becomes mainstream

Old analogue film offers higher resolution than DVD so even remasters of the older films look much better than DVD.
