Default How much money can you carry on a flight

Looking to buy a car over in Ireland and the blokes wanting cash. I was planning to fly over and get the ferry back but worried about going through airport security with £16k. Is there a limit on how much you can take on with you?

Not the kinda thing you wanna br talking about on the internet.. If someone knows you, and knows your getting on a flight with £16k, expect a headache and an empty wallet/sack

Ring the airport security and pre-warn them maybe? Or can't you just withdraw the cash from the bank on the day of buying the car?

As much as you are brave enough to carry just dont look nervous when going through security

Sorry I should have said but it's Northern Ireland so no need for euros or vrt

I'm taking the money with me because when I view it and do all necessary checks I'll be driving home with it, if it's a shitter it'll be back to the airport and a flight home with my money still in my pocket

Seriously mate, I live in Northern Ireland and there is some right dodgy people. Some of the local boys(para's) wouldnt think twice about putting a bullet in you for that sort of money. Go first without the money and then if it looks ok, then go back with the money. We have some of the same banks as England anyway, Barclays, Abbey, HSBC etc..

I thought the max you could legally carry was 10,000, and you needed proof of money etc.

To stop help prevent drug trafficer etc

Money laundering regulations kick in for any transaction worth the equivalent of 15,000 euros - not that any dodgy bloke is going to be too fussed about that, until he tries to bank the cash and then he has to explain TO THE AUTHORITIES SATISFACTION that the cash is legit.

Why don't you just take a bank cheque? Thats all I did when viewing cars and is easier to cash than a normal cheque also.

Why not fly over, check the car out and if all is good drive down to your bank over there and get them to do a bank transfer of the money.

Sounds dodgy to me, 16K Cash in northern Ireland. Despite what the press says, things can still be a bit dodgy up there.

Fuck!

Surely wouldn't go alone though.......

Leave the money somewhere and go back later to collect after seeing/driving the car.. Make it complicated. Be wise not stupid.

FFS I aint stupid enough to go alone or go with a flashing neon above my head saying "Please rob I have £16k on me" or post my flight details on the net so thanks for all your concerns I was only asking a question on how much you can take on a flight.

By the looks of it it'll be a ferry over and back and I'll make sure it's a quick car i go over in just incase Its a set up, I get mugged, shot, bashed over the head and whatever else nonsense was posted

so far this year ive been to southern ireland to clear a business out that was winding down and that was £24k in cash,we went on the ferry, never asked, checked or stopped, been to northern ireland a few times this year with £15k,and £17k cash on the ferry, nobody asked or stopped me either, why would they?your only going to buy a car so have a reason, plus £16k isnt that much cash in todays world, some folk have credit cards with that much a limit on!
